Extra $$ for the EDGE trim level. Ranger as a truck is good as a very light duty work truck. It's max payload is 1100lb in the box, and depending on model reg cab, super cab, you'll have a max tow of 6500lbs, both of which are further dependant upon which engine you have.
The Ranger 4.0L supercab is a good solid investment if you're looking for a small work truck. I wouldn't really opt for the Edge, unless you intend to cruise in the truck rather than work in it.
You'll typically find a "New" edge for about $20,000. For about $5,000 more you can get yourself into a superduty, and double payload, and towing.
Go hit some dealer websites, and do some number crunching, then find a payment calculator.
Best of luck with whatever you decide!

can you really get a f250 for $25k? Maybe used?
A ranger is a good way to go though, since it gets better milege...unless you need the extra capacity... but eithter truck, treated right, should give you well over 150,000miles
