Hey a buddy of mine has a 98 GTP everything stock except K&N filter... He has cracked him exhaust manifold from starting it in the cold and driving without engine warming up (aparently). He has welded the crack and has just had it crack in the same spot again.. This guy isnt a huge performance guy, limited budget, but im sure he would want his car to go fast if he had the money.. should he splurge to get headers.. or should he juss weld it again...???

I didn't even knowyou can weld cast iron, from what I heard it'll jsut keep cracking more. He's going to have to replace it with something.

ya im certain hes guna replace it now.. but he is thinking of getting a factory manifold... personally im trying to convince him to switch to headers.. i know they helpthe engine flow better.. mind u im only 18 so i dont know THAT much about all this to convince someone to spend extra money on sumptin so.. should he get stock or headers??

after market headers will solve his broken exaust manifold problem and give him around 20 or so more HP. to weld cast iron effectivly, the manifold must be removed and heated in a oven to equel high temp. It can then be welded with special welding rod. :2cents:

I forgot to add, I think the cost of headers for this car are the biggest rip-off scam in the world, I would personally go with ported exhaust manifolds.

thanks.. he says if he buys headers it will mess around with the o2 sensor and cat... is this because he will be runin headers on stock exhaust

Headers should have no trouble being welded to the stock cat.
If he wants to spend less money and isnt really shooting for 12's then I'd give S&S headers a shot.
Cheapest to most expensive
S&S headers
SLP headers
TOG headers
