quick little question about gt 40

sorry i just have a question about fujimis gt40 the black one. is this model good to build and does it have good engine detail cause i wanna build one. thanks :)

Love this kit, there may be other gt40s with engine detail but not this one, except for what you see from the rear pe grille, comes with real seat belts and a sheet of pe parts with amazing grilles. If the decals are not by cartograf then you'll need to paint or add white decal films beneath the number decals which are soooooo thin, that' what I did. Also I'm using the S27 pe sheet which adds so much but is so easy to use. I should have mine built and have some pics in 3-4 weeks, I don't have much time to build anymore. Go ahead and try it.

how many pieces make up the engine? also, doesent the hole back come as a seperate piece from the front? if this is so then cant u lift the back off to see in there?

Actually what you see from the rear is I believe the gearbox which is molded to another large piece (?) in one piece, and when done right looks just fine. You see only what you see in the actual car. The body is in one piece. Again, I belive there are others by Fujimi with the split body. If you wanted to split to body you have to add an engine. I know there is a resin upgrade for this car but a lot of $$.

thanks for all the replies. what i think im gonna do is cut the body into 2 pieces and then make and engine out of some scrap pieces. the only reason i will go through this is because the engine is my favorite part of the car to build :)

Muscles, do you have the kit already? Because the "black one" sounds like the 1966 LM winning Mk II. It has the engine cover molded in. The various Fujimi Mk I kits (like the Gulf car above) have the rear already seperate. You might want to plum for one of those instead.

Although this engine is not strictly suitable for all GT40s and will require considerable scratchbuilding of the suspension and chassis.

no i dont have this kit yet but it will probally be my next one after i finish my f40. i want either the black with white stripes or red with white stripes kit cause i think they look the best. ya the resin engine would be nice but my wallet says no cause i earn my living cutting grass. (lol $30 a week)
