Hey! Im moving to North Dakota for 2 years and was thinking of buying a Camaro Z28 -94. Now is it possible to drive this all year around or should I just forget it? I really want a Camaro and I cant afford two cars :(
What do you say????

its not the best, i have tried before, it can still move ok but how big of snow do you get there? snow is the only small problem, other than that its great all year round...

Dont do it camaros are crap in the snow and the snow and salt just make them rott. Even with snow tires and something heavy in the back they still suck.

besides snow though, they are good in anything else like rain... and stuff

Ive drivin' 4 diff. camaros year round here and our winters get pretty harsh..

It all depends on how you drive.. If your not stupid about it, they can be a decent winter car.. (no deep snow though) Get some decent winter tires..(Nordic Icetrac or Bridgestone Blizzack) and throw a couple sandbags in the rear tub and you'l be ok

i had to drive the T/a one day in the winter. was on an icy road, and had to stop at a stop sign, it was a bit of an incline, and i wasnt going anywhere.

p245/60 R15's in a summer style tire = not good for ice. id just go with some all season tires, and stud them.

Thanks for your replies!
The winter in ND gets really cold and icey, we dont get a lot of snow(not thick anyway) and they are pretty good at keeping the roads clear.
Im buying it next week when I get over there! :)

I have Blizzak MZ02 I think they are. I think they're like 205/55's or something. The guy at Tire Rack helped me pick them out. I don't have ASR. I do live in Chicago. I haven't had any serious problems, except the one winter I got impatient and put the summer tires back on too early. Then it took me 45 minutes to get in my garage from the driveway after a heavy snow :disappoin .

well, i have to go either way, it depends on how good of a driver you are, no offence intended. dont get me wrong, ive taken a turn in the snow too fast, almost recovered but wound up nose down ass up in a ditch on the side of the road. but then again ive crawled up an ice covered hill that several four wheel drive pickups couldnt handle. and ive got an open rear end.

yeah ive gotten up icey hills that our fwd traction controlled monte carlo ss wouldnt go up, if youre responsible you wont have many problems. as far as the car gettin eatin up, ummm, what car doesnt? they cover the roads white with salt in PA i dont think it really matters what you drive, and if you do it at the right time you can wash it clean anyways.

I live in Michigan and the roads really suck in the winter but I did manage last winter with no major problems (few times was on the edge of my seat and I did get stuck in the driveway twice) and that was on the BFG G-Force tires (I AM getting Blizzaks before this winter). If you realize these cars aren't made for this kinda stuff and treat them accordingly (go slooooowww), you'll be fine.

hell, as far as im concerned a camaro is better to have. they are any worse than any other RWD car and when you safely get to an empty parking lot, you can spin til your heart's content. and when the cops come just tell em, "its a rear-wheel drive car, it cant help from spinning"...

the tires make a huge difference. i have low pros on my 18's and i could not move. just sat in one place spinning. it took threw people pushing to move it from the street to the bottom of my driveway. people were having trouble with traction to trying to push my car. this is on pretty much flat ground. i live in MN so im sure the winters are similar. i have seen other people drive theres around fine. tires make a huge difference!!

Where at in Minnesota? I live in Apple Valley/Lakeville, driving a Camaro in winter with the wrong tires up here would do that too haha. And the last three winters havn't even been that bad.

I live in rochester. But i got a friend who lives in apple valley and have been up there a few times. All i know is with my tires it is physically impossible to drive it. My stock rims werent and option either. With one bent rim and 2 flat tires and 2 tires with no tread i wasnt getting my camaro very far. I got to anxious and took it out when most of the snow had melted then got another big storm. Car got plowed in 3 times then cops decided to be asses about it. Left a warning saying that if i didnt have it gone by 9 am the next morning they were towing it. I didnt get home until 10 pm the night before. didnt get it in the garage untill well past midnight. Not really how i planning on spending my night. I did drive around my winter beater with 17's with low pros on em for awhile for shits and giggles. didnt know peeling out in snow could put that much wear on tread. It was a lot harder to drive around but just slowed down earlier and sat there spinning before going but i did it. Just had a lot less power and torque so it was still possible.

whats really bad is when you have a 5 speed maro that doesnt have first gear. its terrible in the rain at stop signs and stuff cause i gotta start in second. i give it a lot of gas and then slip'nslide everywhere. i dont even want to try it in the snow.

Chevyracincamaro

you are revving waaay too high if you are still spinning in second...

I used to drive up north. If you want to cherish this ride, keep it out of the snow. I drove both limited slip and posi in 3rd gen Camaros and drove by many stranded cars. It's possible to get around, but you need to write it off as a daily driver.
