Whats a good rally car model to get into? I really like the Peugeot but I also like the Evo...any suggestions?

The Evo is the easier to build for your first rally kit experience.

Just about any recent Tamiya kit will be a good place to start. Maybe pick one with a simple colour scheme if you are new to decals and masking.

I agree with Phil. First try something with simple color scheme.

I wouldn't call the Subaru Impreza WRC a good kit for somebody starting out with rally cars or decalling, the difficulty of forming the large side decals over the car could be very discouraging.

All the Tamiya rally car are great. The easyer is the Subaru (simple paint job and decal are easyer than total Peug)

2 Year ago, I started with a Subaru and a Total Peugeot. I think if you take your time, they aren't very difficult and they are fun to built

The Mini cooper Rally is very fun to do too, simple to make and with engine :smokin:

I still think the decals on the Subaru are not a good place for a beginner to start.
For ease of decals and to still have a nice kit the Evo VII is definitely one of the better ones, the 2000 Peugeot 206 is also very easy.

How about Duval's Ford Focus Performance Blue? Simple paintjob, and very easy decalling.
(it's my only rally car...eheheh, that's why I recomend it ehehhe)

The 2000 Peugeot doesn't have red on the side, that's the 2001 Pug 206.
The 2000 model is the plain silver one.

OK?

Ray wasn't talking about the Total car, rather the all silver 2000 Esso livery.

Beat me by that much.

But you are right Vric about the red being difficult on the sides of the 2001 car. Easier to paint it.

Is there an exact match to the red of the decals? A friend of mine tried TS-8 and X8, but both came out a little darker...I also have this car to build and I want to try the "paint" method. What's your opinion?

PS-sorry to jack your thread, but I think this is a fair question :uhoh:

I like the 206 the best, personally

Ray is right, I used TS-49 and the colour is a perfect match. Used the door part of the decal and the paint and decal blend perfectly, at least to my eyes.
