92 bonny just quit, help!

ok, so my wife calls me: honey, car just quit on main street. check engine light came on, then she lost brakes and power steering, she pulls over and shuts it off. car will not start again but does turn over. I have'nt been able to look at it yet. I'm thinking maybe electronic control module?????? any ideas? had the car towed to a local garage.....

update. got the car home, replaced the fuel filter - no change. car seemed like its running really rich. lots of smoke coming out of the exhaust. have to have it floored to keep it running. it runs a lot better after unplugging the mass air flow sensor on the throttle body so I am going to replace this. does this sound reasonable to anyone????

I would check the crank and/or cam sensor

replaced the mass air sensor, runs fine.
