I keep gettin pulled over and giving tickets for loud/after market exhausts . . for some reason in the state of FL (or so im told by the COPS) any alternate exhaust put on a car is illegal and can be written a 40 - 70 $ ticket . . my question is if i swap a stock dual exhaust will my back pressure be too much? i have intake/headers/and down piping . . a friend with a GTi has same thing with stock exhuast and it sounds horrible . . what should i do??????? please help!

And I thought California was bad! I wonder what they tell all the Harley riders?

They dont even bother the harley riders cause its the same thing in Rhode Island. Its another case of import profiling at its worst.

you ever hear a damn cop bike. they are louder than any import. pigs. the thing that pisses me off, is that they were our age once too, and they all had hotrods, and musclecars. old people were giving them shit too. they are just too ignorant to remember it.

We have a new law in Ca that really makes more sense. The noise level has to be 95db or less. That's not new. The problem was the cop got to decide (without any testing equipment) if there was a violation. So if you got a ticket you were SOL no matter what the noise level really was.
Now if you get a ticket you can take your car to a testing station and have an actual noise test done. If you test 95 or less you win.
It looks like the result of this is not many cops are going to the trouble of writing noise tickets. I understand SEMA was heavily involved it getting this law through. You might want to contact them to see whats going on in Florida.

Yea, just fight it in court. The cop should have no way of testing what is too loud according to state law. Argue that in court, and you will most likely win.
If you swap a dual exhaust, it will lower your backpressure (which is a good thing), but will also lower your delta pressure (which can be a bad thing). Plus, there's no use for it.
What kind of exhaust do you have? If it's a custom job, just go have another resonator welded into the middle of it for about 70 dollars.

alright, i live in miami, FL and thats total bull. 90% of imports here have grapefruit launchers sticking out the back, and most sound disgusting. very very few get tickets. anyways...
according to the DOT, any modification to your car is illegal. with that said, unless your modification is C.A.R.B. exempt (and the numbers readily available to any cop that wants to know), you are violating the law. an easy work around, get a stock looking dual-tip exhaust and a nice long resonator.

i have dc sports ceramic headers, straight test pipe replacing my cat, and a apexi world sport cat back exhaust. you think my car would be loud but nope! only gets loud when i hit vtec but when it doesn't it sounds just slightly louder than stock. the world sport exhaust is quiet. i have a friend running the same setup on his accord too and his is quieter than mine cause he has no vtec i guess.

well i got a cheap apexi N1 immatation, really loud, annoyingly loud . . but i wanted to know can i still benefit from a stock exhuast if i have intake/headers? a friend told me 2 1/2 in. piping all the way back to a stock can and i cant go wrong.

well if u have intake and headers which a stock exhaust, u will still gain some hp but not as much than if u had the whole system...intake, headers, and catback. instead of each piece gaining hp it is everything together that gives you a number gained.

oh yeah the world sport exhaust by apexi is designed to be quiet but yet still offers performance like other aftermaket catbacks. and its 50 state legal according to apexi.

Any thing 95db or less is 50 state legal. I think the World Sport is well under that. I think most of the manufacturers try to hit 95 on products they don't want to advertise as race only.

mines the same way, i got an OBX H-Style catback with header and intake, my buddy told me when i hit vtec he hears me from like 2 miles from his house, not to mention the 2 15s i have in the trunk!! HAHA

waht does it mean "when i hit vtec" when does vtec activate?
partyhardryan16

on the 97+ preludes around 5200 rpms , but its different in every vtec engine, my old accord hit around 4000

VTEC . . common in new preludes . . systems where when your RPM's reach a certain point the small lobes on your camshafts stop spinning and the large lobes take over . . u will feel a burst of power and much louder sound from the engine . . around 5.2 it kicks in . . harder if u have an intake/headers/exhaust.

About the new 95 db law in cali, i heard if u buy a cheap db tester at radio shack for maybe $40 an keep it in your car that when u get pulled over u just test it for the cop an he wont even write u the ticket most of the time. that seems easier that just waiting til u get pulled over an then having to get it tested and then fight it in court. just an idea for those from cali

i would say 9 times out of 10 the cop won't even bother with that unless he's just tryin to be an ass, or you really pissed him off or the exhaust is obscenely loud. i haven't heard of anyone i know that has gotten a ticket for exhaust in a long time. they hit you with useless tickets such as no front plate, tint, turn signals, things that are completely harmless to people and the environment. yet you have old ass beat up cars spittin up smoke and drippin oil with their bumpers being held on by duct tape and mufflers dangling off the back of the car, shit that the cops don't seem to bother.
ok, i'm done with my rant :p

go magnaflow dude. They are not as corny as people think. The whole purpose is to get your engine to breathe. you don't need loud exhaust to do that. Its a quiet and almost stock looking exhaust.

Is the Magnaflow a muffler only or a Cat Back?
AcesHigh

Magnaflow offers both. I am using a Magnaflow Cat, but the problem is that is does not directly bolt onto the exhaust or downpipe.
