Stock headunit on 5th gen

How do you take it out? On my 4th gen there were screws underneath the dash, but I can't seem to find them on my 5th gen. Can anyone help me out? I need to take out the stock deck and put in my Alpine. If anyone wants my stock deck I'll give it to you for dirt cheap

you have to remove that plastic piece surrounding the radio and a/c controls, you can use a small flat screwdriver to pry it out. there are four screws you have to undo which are located towards the back of the radio, you can see them on the sides. it's kinda hard to explain without pics but just look in down the side of the radio and you should see the 4 screws. hope this helps.:bloated:

My car came with a carbon fiber dash kit, so is that what I pry off? I don't want to damage it.

you have to pry that plastic piece that surrounds the a/c controls and radio. it's not that hard. jus be careful not to scratch that piece or the dash itself. stick a small flat screwdriver between the plastic piece and dash and pry it open. it'll snap off. don't snap off the carbon fiber kit, but the whole plastic piece. if i had a pic available for you i'd show you.

k, I just went out to my car, and the part that surrounds my A/C controls and stereo IS the carbon fiber dash kit. Its like the whole plastic piece is the CF kit. So is that what I pry open? How do I do it without scratching it?

Yes Buh Buh, the carbon fiber kit will be what you pry off. When I took my radio out I wrapped the screw driver in a towel before prying off the plastic piece so I wouldn't scratch anything up. It will be stubborn at first but once you get the first few clips popped loose it's easy. Oh yeah, and if your carbon fiber kit is a stick-on overlay be careful to not pry it loose from the actual plastic.

where are the clips? Its just so I know which places to concnetrete on prying.
Because its VERY stubborn, and I don't want to wreck anything. Its hard for me to even get a flathead screwdriver into the crack

I can't get the stupid thing off and there's 2 scratches on my CF dash, and I hate to say this, but I think I just want to take it into some place to do it for me for like $40 or something.

dood, sorry you're having trouble. but i wouldn't waste a single cent on someone who'll open this in 5 seconds. if i was close to your location, i'd come over and do this and you'll see how easy it is. get a small skinny, flat screwdriver. stick it in b/w the plastic piece and the dash, and carefully yet forcefully pry it out. i dont' know what else to tell you. there's clips all around the piece that hold it in, but once you get one side out you'll be able to get the rest out with your fingers. SOMEONE WITH A SCANNER TAKE PICTURES AND SHOW BUH_BUH!!!!:flash:

OK I finally got it.
I put in the deck, but the stupid harness kit doesn't fit properly, so the deck slides through the hole and into the back! What's up with that? So I guess now I HAVE to bring it in somewhere to get it done.

the harness should have a few pins that you have to bend in and that should make it stay!

Hey Buh Buh if the outer sleeve for the radio doesn't have the clips then I'm sure it has a place you can put a few screws in to hold it in place. Just make sure the screws aren't too awful long so they don't go too far into the radio.
