Yeah, I think its a piece of cheese too...I wouldnt want that thing at all. That whole deal with a tent coming out of the back I think is a little goofy...They should of just bundled a tent with it, along with all sorts of gear with little areas to store it and stuff. Also, look at its clearance and tire size...Its like a mini van! It would of been cool if they made it like able to do anything, like a good outdoor vehicle that had a lot of outdoor-type options.

The latest rumor I heard was that Pontiac was going to stop production and go back to the drawing board..
They couldn't have made a better decision!!
I just hope it's not just a rumor..

Man, I agree with you all. It even beats the focus hands down in an ugly competition. I wouldn't drive one if I was paid... well, maybe if I was paid, but I'd wear a mask, that's for sure!

I remember the first time I saw an AssTech.... I was with 2 of my friends in this parking lot and we went over to it and just looked at it in disbelief.... I have never seen or heard one compliment about that car's styling.

Yeah but no matter what they praise about it, I've never seen anyone actually say the styling is acceptable. It's usually like a "well you don't have to look at it when you're driving it" sort of thing.

So you're saying you've never been inside one of these vehicles? If not, that leads me to believe you've never driven one. Do you have anything else as to way this car sucks besides "it's ugly" ? If not, then you have a poor reason to call it a piece of crap. By the way, who cares if someone defends it? You're defending your opinion just as much he is his, are you saying that he should be denied the right to stick up for his thoughts but you should be able to say what you wish?

There are plenty of reasons some people listed over in the other thread I was talking about entitled ''cars I hate''. I think it's 4 pages long, but they are in there. One I remeber is that it has the 3.4L engine, which is WAY underpowered to do anything with. The thing is worthless, besides maybe getting groceries. It can't tow anything, or even hold much weight without having the bumper drag on the ground. And yet they still have the nerve to call this thing an SUV. It has no off road capabilities, it's a piece of crap:thefinger

Do you really think that when GM had the Aztek in mind, they thought "It's gonna TEAR UP the off-road scene" Off-road can mean through grass, or dirt for that matter. My family owns an Aztek and you know what? It serves its purpose. My mom uses it to go back and forth to work. The engine hasnt given her any trouble, she maintains it well, and hauls people in it. Ive never seen the bumper drag when it's been packed with people. The ONLY reason it is considered an SUV is because it can come in AWD. Vans come in AWD, does that mean they are meant to go off-road and should be bashed on because they wouldnt handle well off-road? I do agree, It shouldnt be called an SUV, but answer me this, dispite your thoughts of the engine, have you actually driven one?

I think the HP rating speaks for itself. I can think of a lot of vehicles less than the price of an Aztec (25K) that would be plenty more practical at getting groceries and hauling people. When they classified this vehicle they must have forgotten what SUV stands for. When is that last time you saw an Aztec pulling something like a trailer? My point is they are worthless. Yes they can carry passengers, wow-since that is what the automobile was meant for. A station wagon can hold more people. This vehicle serves no logical purpose you can't find elsewhere in other vehicles.

No need to get snippy, now is there? I only asked you to answer my original question, I see no problem in that. Now, you have never driven one, yet you make all these claims. I know the HP rating on the vehicle, and lest we not forget MY FAMILY OWNS ONE so I know how many people it holds. Look at the vehicle, what are you going to tow with it? Why do you think they put so much storage room on the inside of it?

How much does the Aztek cost? I, as well as many others, find it horribly hurrendous! Its fugly, its stance is fugly, and not to mention it scares the living crap out of little kids upon first glance :frown: . Oh well... Again... How much does one of these ugly ducklings cost?

This is the most pathetic thread i have ever seen. No one in here has probably ever even driven an Aztec, and your knocking on it. I work at a pontiac dealership and i have grown to like the Aztec, even the STYLING, it grows on you. Sure the puke green colored two tone might be ugly but that's it. As for the car in general, it has one of the best GM production engines ever made, and it rides better than a caddilac. And you know what, since it has come out, i have only seen one Aztec on our used car lot out of the 3 we have. These are tasteless insults on a car you know nothing about..

This was posted in the Aztek section of the pontiac forum, and it goes like this...

I just bought one this weekend and I love it. Every day I love it more and more, and the more people wince at it, the more I love it. I've always thought they were sharp looking, but the test drive cinched it for me. For those of you in doubt, drive one, then comment on it.
For what its worth, I also drove the Element, and found it to be extremely unimpressive. The engine is very weak, and the comfort level is well, nonexistent. Driving the Aztek makes the Element not even register as a viable automobile.
I think most Aztek owners are like me, too. I think if you get sickened by an automobile that someone else is driving, then you deserve that discomfort for being such a complete sheepish idiot. *I* am the kind of person who gets sick of mediocrity and cookie cutter SUVs that all look alike. Basically, if you like being low key and easily blending in with everyone else, do not buy an Aztek, it's not for you.
There you have it, a satisfied customer with the same thoughts as myself and my cousin(Z28Josh).

Eating flesh is a taboo, your comparing something taboo such as eating flesh to a good vehicle such as the aztec. A taboo is something rejected by society because it is outrageously wrong in case you were wondering, i dont think 6,000,000 ppl find the aztec in the same category as eating flesh.

I got one and am proud of it. I'll defend the Aztek all day. I've gotten a lot of compliments from friends, co-workers and neighbors. Even thumbs up from strangers.
I'd rather have an Aztek than those run of the mill, they-all-look-alike SUVs that every other manufacturer makes. Yeah, let's put more Explorers on the road.
The fact that you all hate it makes me love it all the more.

Girls have told me "it's pretty..." guys say "it looks cool..." strangers have said, "nice car." and a few have said, "it's different." which I take as a nice way of saying they don't like it.... which is cool.
You name the SUV and they all have bascially the same shape. Blazer, looks like an Explorer looks like a Cherokee looks like the Suburban looks like, etc. etc. Of course I'm not an idiot and am not saying they look so much alike they could be the same vehicle. Just saying they that until the last couple years with the likes of the Axiom, Sante Fe and some of the newer more edgy designs they all had the same design / shape.
I think the Suburban and the Expedition may as well be the same vehicle which looks pretty much like the typical SUV... More or less a mini school bus. A 4-door box on wheels, stick a hood to it and make a few minor exterior design differences viola, a different make / model SUV.
Same thing goes for Minivans.
Don't get me wrong. I like most all SUVs and I even like Minivans.... even station wagons. But in the past there haven't been much done to make SUVs different and stand out from each other. And I'll also say that If I didn't get a GM family discount, I would not have gotten the Aztek. But for the money, I probably would have gotten the Kia Sorento.
I bought the Aztek over the TrailBlazer, cuz I like the looks of the Aztek better and the Aztek with similar options was about $4,000 to $5,000 cheaper.

I've never driven an Aztek, but I have driven other Pontiac cars (as I worked Valet for a year and many rentals where Pontiacs) and I would say they ride very stiff and even the new models rattle and creak like an ice machine.
Here is why I think the ass-tek deserves the fugliest automobile award.
First, it looks like a freekin Lego mobile, because they've decided to use all plastic on the lower half (Plastic is cheaper to produce and easier to assemble)
The shape is also horrific, as it looks like a glorified minivan of 2 cars stacked on top of each other. I thought it was hella funny when Pontiac first tried to market this automobile and they had commercials of this couple sleeping in their attachable tent, with their nifty cooler in the back, high up in the Sierra Mnts. When was the last time you where four wheeling and saw an Aztek?? Exactly...
And who is going to take the time to attach a tent to the back of a car when you can just sleep in the car or pitch a 20 dollar tent on the flat ground and be 3 times as comfortable???
First the marketing dept. should be fired for thinking that people will actually buy a vehicle so they can attach a tent to the back or they can store a cold pop in the side cooler. And lastly, the team who designed this piece of plastic-crap should go back to working at the Lego Factory.

First the marketing dept. should be fired for thinking that people will actually buy a vehicle so they can attach a tent to the back or they can store a cold pop in the side cooler. And lastly, the team who designed this piece of plastic-crap should go back to working at the Lego Factory.

Keep the insults coming. Make me love the tek even more.
Actually the element and the Scion looks like a lego mobile. The Aztek has too many angles.
As for the tent. STFU if you haven't used it. The tent package is awesome. Comes with a form-fitting airmattress that beats the shit out of sleeping on the ground.
And the cooler is most excellent for road trips.
Continued proud owner of a Pontiac Aztek.

With the Scion out, I don't know what is worse, the Aztek, Scion, or Element.

And what SUV's look a like? Besides the Yukon and suburban, which are supposed to look alike, I don't know of any SUV's that look alike.

Expedition = Lincoln Navigator
Aztek ~ Rendezvous :uhoh:
