Added some more vids to my site. I came across a random, unlabled CD that I had forgotten all about. A local club member had a bunch of videos of my runs from the 2003 Shootout. The only 11 second footage of my car that I have seen, though there is some really good stuff out there being put into a DVD (The New England DSM DVD for 2002 just got released... Havent seen it yet, but I should be getting one at the SO this year). At any rate, they are on the POSR site (www link below), my page, vidoes tab up top.

ahhh you dont get it though! Yeah in that one video, the eclipse beat the wrx. But the car WASN'T stock! I'm sure I can go find a lot of videos of wrx's killing eclipses... But should that be a deciding factor of whether or not to buy a car? WRX's are awesome cars, and I'm sure if you guys werent so damn biased, you'd admit it too :)

My friend has a 10 second talon, but do I want his car? NO WAY. I'd much rather have my "slow" wrx because I know my car will start every morning. His does not, like a few others on this board who shall remain nameless ;)

look up reliablity on subarus in general, they're far more reliable than dsms. I dont want to start anything and I dont want anyone to get offended at anything I say, but I'm just sticking up for my car, like the rest of you.

This thread is hallarious. I like the new WRXs, they look pretty nice. An SRT-4 is more buggish. But imo a eclipse with a few minor adjustments looks better than 99% of stuff on the road. You gotta admit, that car is gorgeous.

WRXs have their problems too, just like any car btw. And with the extra $15000 I saved on the unreliable 10 sec dsm instead of the wrx, i'll just go buy a civic.

Easy guys! lol :lol: DSMs go fast, for short money. And for that reason people with other cars will take digs at whatever they can, and reliabilty is really the only downfall. Doesnt really bother me any more. What matters to me is which car lights up the winners bulb at the end of the track ;)

I like WRXs, and none were hurt in the making of that video. I had 1800 dollars in "mods," and was running pump gas. A WRX with the same money in mods might have beat me, maybe not. Who knows. And I dont really claim that my car is reliable, though in reality all the parts I break are because I drive it hard and make way more pwoer than these parts are designed to handle. And I have had some bad luck that has cost me dearly. Thats the name of the game though. I would rather have an unreliable 11 second car than have a reliable 15 second car. But that is what my hobby is, and I take it like a champ. Whats that? I need ANOTHER motor? No problem, I'll just bend over, grab my ankles, and spell R-U-N 5 times fast... Then stop crying, and get to work on the car :D

Anyways, every car has it's problems. Ive heard lots of different stories from lots of different people. My talon is causing me so much greif with all sorts of problems, do I still love DSM's, hell yea, I prefer no other.
Some people act as if they invented the fucking car, others think that it's the most unreliable thing ever.
Quit your fucking arguing and get over yourself, you don't like DSM's, then good for you, you dont like Subarus, good for you. Why in the hell do you feel like you need to post your thoughts?

I'm so sad that I saw one of our fastest member's thread about showing us HIS movies get messed up so quickly. On topic, I'm going to download whatever is added to the site (haven't checked yet), while I'm down here in california on vacation.

Semi on-topic, like I said before my friend's WRX ran 13.1 on an intake and a boost controller, when I went and embarrassed myself running low to mid 14's with him a few months later this year. They are fast modified and driven hard... but I have seen countless WRX's and all other cars driven poorly at the track, so it's never an indication of which car is better. The track is JUST for personal bests in my opinion. Nobody believes me when I quote 13.1 as his first run, but I saw it with my own eyes. 7000rpm launch, spinning all four briefly, with honda style NLTS (if you get that :)) on race gas mix at 20+psi. To get my car at that point would take some serious Kevin engineering or a bit of money. I like the DSM vs WRX field because the WRX have cheap potential too, and I hope their trannies last long enough to where they can be 5-15 years old like DSMs :) For what it's worth, I test drove a stock WRX today at the dealership and it seemed slow. What I'm saying is to go by track times, although it's entertaining to see people win at the track, you can have a bad run just like you can on the street. I'm not invalidating any of Kevin's videos... but I've seen a basic upgrade WRX beat turbo upgrade/frontmount WRX's on Mother's day this season.

Then OT, I have no idea what the deal is with Jake because I'm not on AIM here on vacation... but I'm kind of upset that our users brought him to give up moderating. I hope it's temporary but again, I don't know what's up.

I don't know why anybody here tells people that don't own DSMs to go away. I've yet to see Dayna badmount DSM's with the exception of joking around or poking fun at reliability or crankwalk, both of which are total bullshitable topics with me. I might get sensitive if my car DID c/w though :)

So without reviewing the thread again, I don't know what went wrong except for the usual this car vs. that car stuff... carried too far.

FYI, even if Dayna DID step out of line more than the average user, don't be pointing it out expecting punishment. Most of the mods like her I believe, which is something that she acheived with the way she talks to them. Sorry to dissapoint everyone, but AF isn't a court-house. Friends don't ban friends unless they go postal on everyone. Such is life. I'm sure it holds true for forums like NABR as well. You either play nice and get on people's good side, then they will back you up... or you can whine about fairness and get the boot. Anyone who causes a moderator to quit should expect nothing less than if they insulted them... that boot.

Let see. Lets start with the T25 mods.

Exhaust (14.6)
KN filter (14.3)
Profec EBC
UICP with 1g BOV (14.2)

Tossed in race gas (13.7 :eek: )

Then I did:

14b
AFC
TMO chip (13.1)

Tires were to the belts, so bought another set of Dumlop SP Sport 4Ks and busted into the 12s with a 12.98. Then basically just adding boost (24-25 psi) and running high octane race gas, ran a best of 12.74 at around 110, if I remember correctly. I did get down to 12.5s, but I may have been on a borrowed 16g at the time. I think thats all the mods anyway...


Just bought a copy of the 2002 Shootout DVD, a local member is compling them for 2002 through 04. If I can rip some vids from it I'll put them up, but they are all high 12 second 14b times. This was the year I trophied in Bracket 1. I think he is skipping 2003 and doing 2004 next. Which is too bad, because I didnt get any 11 second passes in this year before it rained. But the car sounds sick, so it may still be fun. When the 2003 DVD comes out, I'll have some 11 second footage from last year. I have never even seen those runs, so I'm excited to see how it comes out. :)
