Hi All...
I have a 91 LeBaron....in fairly good shape...136K miles. Anyway, last night as I was driving it home, the "Check Gages" light faded in and out, the motor lost power for a second or so then ran fine....for a short bit. Then the process repeated. So I did what any woman driving alone at night would do....I shut off the AC. That seemed to solve the problem. The car ran fine all the way home.
This morning I went out and took a look under the hood for obvious problems like loose hoses, belts etc. Nada....that I could see. I started the car and ran it with the AC on....the idle was rough, the "Check Gages" light faded on and off....and after a few mins the engine stalled.
I shut off the AC, and restarted the engine with no problems. I noticed one large line from the AC thingie that goes up into the fire wall was covered with condensation.
To further mystify me...I noticed the battery charge gage take a serious dip when the "Check Gages" light faded on on off. I think it happens when the AC cycles.
One more thing...the battery is a mess. White icky and damp corrosion stuff on both terminals as well as built up under the cap things where I add water to the cells. It starts the car fine and dosn't sound weak or lame....But it's old.
Appreciate any info or advice.....
