I found a 16g in a auction for about 10 dollars or more in Japan, but it has to be rebuit. So my question is how hard is it to rebuild a turbo? I've seen the vfaq, but i wont to know if its hard to do? Will it cost a lot? And is there a site where i can seen the rebuid kits?

The rebuild kit is 150 dollars. Most DSM turbo shops will rebuild them for 300. This is something that I do not do myself (you still have to send it somewhere for balancing anyway), and its worth every penny to have a turbo shop do it for you. I would try SBR, AGP, or FP. So for 310 total, you got yourself a 0 mile turbo for a steal ;) Well worth it to have it done right. My opinion anyway :)

Keep in mind it may not be worth it if the turbine housing has serious cracks in it.

Thats true. Turbine housings can be picked up for about 20 dollars with the usual minor cracks, especially 6cm housings. 7s are a little harder to come by, typically they come off blown turbos that people dont plan to ever rebuild, so they sell the housing to pay for the evenings beer budget :D

So...by the time he buys it, pays shipping, gets rebuild, hell you can get a new 16G for under $475.

But he could save more than $150 by just having this one rebuilt...like Kevin said, a rebuilt turbo is like a new turbo in that both have essentially 0 miles. It has the same potential to run great for thousands of miles or the same potential to break after 800.
