I am thinking of buying a 3000GT-96 3.0L V6 with all extra exept leather. Now the only problem is that it have 210.000 miles on it. Im not that good on cars so I was wondering if someone could give me advise if I should buy this car or not. They want $5000 for it! Is there a lot of things that can go wrong after that many miles and is it expencive to fix? And is it easy to add some extra H-Powers to it? Please help me with this... Thanks!

Save ur money, im sure u can find one with less miles.. im sure that motor doesnt have too many more miles on it.. and if the motor does go it will cost u 8 grand to buy a new one.. or u could find a used one for around a grand.. about the hosepower u would have to spend bout 4-5 grand or so on a SC or staged upgrades.. for hp ur better off getting a VR4

Dude don't get that! We usually don't tell people what to do but that is a horrible deal, I got my 95 SL with leather chromes everything for 5900 and it had less than 100k miles. That car is probably worth 1000, I have seen SLs in good condition with 160k going for 2600.

If the seller comes down a couple K, I'd consider it if they have meticulously cared for the car and have the receipts to prove it.

I bought a 94 SL fully loaded in brand new condition (really i promise) with 156000 miles on it for 2000 grand. I SWEAR i still cant believe. SO just keep looking JUST TAKE CARE OF THEM AND THEY CAN LAST FOREVER. AND SO WHAT IF YOU HAVE TO PUT A NEW ENGINE IN IT, IT is worth it to drive this awsome machine.

ya, 210,000 miles should say it all!!! don't buy a car with that many miles on it unless you are prepared to spend a lot of money WHEN things go wrong and break. If you are experienced and know how to fix cars, then go ahead, but 5 grand sounds way too much...i'd give him 2 grand max. And you're gonna have to do a lot of rebuilding to the motor b/c you don't wanna give it wide-open-throttle all the time with a motor that old. Don't start modifying the motor until you are mechanically assured that it is running well. Good luck.

Wow 2 grand for that? I wouldn't buy it period. Unless it was like 700, then maybe to part out.

Agreed. A car with that many miles is not worth it. Keep looking....you'll find one sooner or later.....just be patient.
