I have run my tank down empty then put it to half a tank. most of the time I am under a 1/4 of a tank and my fuel pump has not calfed on me. I have being doing this for a year or so.

So what is your point?

what my point is, is all over these forums it is said that if you run your tank under a 1/4 of a tank you will need to change your fuel pump because it will die faster.

In all likelihood it will die more quickly since the fuel in the tank keeps it cool. The fact that yours hasn't is great news, but I wouldn't necessarily wear it as a badge of honor.

If you drive your vehicle regularly, it's always wise to keep gas in the tank.

Take care,
Jerry

not saying I am going to wear a badge. I just can't see why GM would put a pump in the tank if it can't take the heat. So if you are under a 1/4 of a tank you should quickly find a gas station when you are on a road.

I agree Tweaked.....if GMC wanted you to keep tank 1/4 full because the fuel pump was an inferior product, they should let you know before you buy, not after you are given a $750 bend-over invoice for a new pump. Another reason Ive bought foreign more often. :banghead: Rediculous.
