Motorized Antenna

hey, i have a 95 galant with a motorized antenna, but the mace broke off. I opened up the trunk and i unplugged and unskrewed everything to where i only have to take the base of the antenna (which is on the fender) which is attached to a rod underneath. I havent been able to get it off. Could someone help me out? I was thinking i could get a standard antenna and just stick it up through the same hole because a brand new mace costs $60 and it doesnt seem like that big of a problem. If anyone could help me out in anyway, it'd be much appreciated. Thanks
