leaking clutch line

well, tonight i was at a gas station and i turned my car on. i pushed my clutch in and it the pedal didn't come back out. WTF! car jerks and dies. i look under my car and see something leaking. i look at my clutch fluid resvoir thingy and i am all out. i go back under my car and it is clutch fluid. so i drive home in second gear the whole way. can't move it in or out of gear while the car is on.

i think i found the leak, it is coming from the hard line that goes down the passenger side wheel well in the engine bay. tomorrow i will find out exactly where it is and hope to hell i don't have to replace the hard line.

Explain how these to things will have any adverse effects on the line?......The pressure in the line won't exceed the limits of the line under any driving conditions that us humans can dish out. and if hes speed shifting......well if doing it right.,,wont be using the clutch at all. so theres no pressure at all........I am just a lil curious and maybe I am about to learn something here.

Preasure is increased every time that clutch moves from its Equilibrium (or when it is at its "rest" stance)

So technically, yes, preasure does increase when you race, or put an abnormal amount of clutch initation... Either by frequency, or by flat out force.

But I think in Freaks case... It's probably just old lines.

lol....it happened to me when i got done racing and shifting hard.

actually, when i was looking for the leak, the whole subframe which the line ran along is becoming corroded. so before i fix the leak, i am going to clean the subframe. don't want my fire wall or subframe (let alone my cluctch line) to be eaten away.

i found where it was leaking. the line that is on the passenger side, it is a bleeder line. it goes from the fire wall up to on top of the wheel well. there was a hole in the line. it was all corroded right by the battery. and the subframe and the battery tray has lots of corrosion on it. so i am guessing that one of the past owners had a battery blow and didn't clean the battery acid up. so the battery acid over time ate away at everything and finally ate completely away at the clutch line. stupid owners.

That would be my guess. Battery acid is a naaaaaaasty substance. I had a battery tip over on my passenger side floor mat in my old Z and it actually made all the fuzz come off my mat.......all that was left was this bald, wilted, corroded rubber patch on my mat. That sucked ass.

Anyway...if it's a small hole, try some JB Weld to seal up the hole. I had a friend of mine actually patch a hole in his RADIATOR with that shit and it held for quite some time. If it's a bit more extreme, you might have to replace the line, in which I can't help you man....never done that.
