What is a cosworth? I thought cosworth had something to do with ford because I remember hearing something about a ford cosworth rally car. However lately I have been researching Mercedes 190E's and alot of the Benz owners with the smaller 2.3 or 2.0 engines do a cosworth swap. Are they putting ford motors in Benz's? Some how I find that hard to beleave. Sorry mods if this belongs in the Mercedes forums but its pretty dead over there.

Cosworth is an engine builder. Cosworth is working on the next Skyline engine. Cosworth also build Ford racing engines. Thats about all I wanna go into so I don't go into territory I'm not sure of.

Cosworth works mostly on ford engines but not exclusivelly. Any company can hire their expertise.

As said, Cosworth is basically an engine builder, then work alot with Ford and mainly in Ford's rally car area if i remember correctly.
They built a Cosworth Focus that's supposed to have like 300 horsepower or something crazy like that. Someboyd clarify my numbers, but i know i read something about that somewhere...

yes, they built the best ford engines.
but hm... on the skyline? I want pure rice, they should develop it in Osaka or Kobe, whatev :D
even if the next skyline won't be 100% JDM, cosworth guarantees for baaad ass engines!

Im From England, where Cosworth is from, and they work on lots of engines, like the Aston Martin 6.0 V12 is a cosworth creation. They made a run of Sierra and Escort cosworths which where basically rally cars on the road. (escorts are an earlier version of the focus). And for the 'cossie' focus, it was supposed to have 350bhp, but we got the feeble 220bhp RS instead, i dunno if you got that over there.
the mercedes Cosworth cars where built because during the late 80's the Mercedes touring cars (saloon cars whatever you like) where powered by Cossworth engines, so therefotre they had to create homoligation specials and sold a few of them aswell. Fast car too. Cosworth also make the engine in the Formula one Jaguar, and most performance Ford engines.

the Escort Cosworth with a 2l-engine (afaik) was pushed to 500hp in touring car championships without much work. larger turbo, larger intercooler with it and some of those standard thing like oil cooler, cams injection etc. and you have a very very fast car.
there was a documentation on tv yesterday where they showed these old 80s cars.
the homologation cars had around 200hp.
unfortunatley, they're very rare and expensive here.. in case they are sold, most owners know about their technology :)
there's a Cosworth-engineered Mercedes in my neighborhood, it's called 190E 2.6 Evolution and features, guess what, a 2.6l engine, n/a as far as I know

Don't even complain. We got the 170 hp SVT version over here. They didn't want to make the mustang look slow. I've heard of Escort Cosworth's pumping out 700+ whp. They're sick. Too bad Ford won't sell them here. They know that it would cost he Mustang alot of sales.
