Trying to reset the rear caliper cylinder back in to allow for more room to fit the new pads. I got the dang thing off, cracked open the bleeder and still can not compress the cylinder. The parking brake cable is not holding it up either. This is a '96 GM 4WD with antilock, but all the electronics are off. WTF is keeping the cylinder from going back in? Any ideas? :banghead:

The rear pistons screw back into the calipers. You CANT just push them back in like the front pistons. You can get the tool that does it for you for free at Auto Zone for a $35 deposit if I remember correctly. Most rear disk brake pistons screw back into the calipers. The screwing action is part of the self adjustment for the parking brake.

Thanks, that worked.
I would have looked it up in the GM service manual, but I only got book 2 of 2. Book 1 of 2 covers brakes. I keep loosing the bids for book one on ebay and haven't found my edition at the swap meets.
