Can anyone help me with what would be a good deal for new and used. There are a couple in the paper for sale. 2003 for $5500 with 7500 miles and a 2002 for $4700 with 7800 miles and a 2000 for $3700 with 6900 miles. What would you go for and would you offer a lower price. I would like the 2003, what is a fair price. I'm still thinking of new and have made some offers, but I really have no idea of what kind of bargaining power I have. What do you guys think of MSRP out the door with helmet? I would appreciate any help, thanks.

I'm not sure about the bikes in the US so my reply is based on bargaining power.
1st rule. It's only worth what someone is willing to pay
2nd rule. Start low. you may be surprised (I offered $15000 for a $22000 car and got it). Don't be afraid of insulting them.
3rd rule. There will always be another bargain. There are few once in a life time deals.
4th rule. In the second hand market, the seller always puts at least 10%on top of the real need price. They sell with their heart and not with their head. The product has sentimental attachment and that puts their price up. That said it may take convincing to get them to part with it. they may think "I'll only sell if someone offers $X. If they want it they can pay for it"

I'd wait or get something else, those prices seem high!

$5500 for a used 2003 with that mileage is WAY WAY high.
$4k to MAYBE 4500 is about right.
