First off I'm new to here. But My question is my Camaro kinda jumps violently when I change into Reverse. I'm thinking it does this because it needs some transmission oil. Or it needs to be changed. I looked at the oil it is not red.The tranny is only 3 yrs old so I know it is not bad. Other wise it is fine when I start the car in OverDrive mode.

Make sure your trans oil is full, check it hot and in park. You could have a clogged trans filter also.
that's about all can think of.
Good luck

does it do it only in reverse? could it be your motor mounts?

Never used anything else but Reverse. But the engine is under warranty. When I shift from Park to reverse to get out the garage it jumps. But when I start the car in drive there are no problems. It only does this when I first start up the car after it has been resting.

If the oil looks bad it couldnt hurt to have it the transmission flushed and the filter changed.
As for the jerk, it could be the transmission mount, also the torque arm mounts can break over time.
Also there could be a litle bit too much play in the rearend but you only notice it in reverse.

and you thought you didnt have any tech advice grease, thats a great point ;)
but i should point out that your trans fluid should be red. if its not, if its burned, then yes, there is something wrong with it, how many miles are on the tranny, what kind of driving has it been subjected to?? be honest. your first trans service should probly be done at around 50,000 miles, or sooner if you subject the tranny to severe driving, such as towing, or neutral drops. im not a trans guy, but it does sound like you have a line pressure issue in the reverse gear system of the trans. could be fluid level, could be crap in the tranny. could be alot of things.

This may sound simple, but my car does the same thing when i start it, it jumps. But usualy because its cold and it has not been started all night and day, but soon as it warms up and the rpm's go down its fine. Is it an automatic transmission?

yeah, when you first start your car in the morning, or whenever it hs been sitting for a period of time, just let it warm up for a bit before going anywhere.

If you have checked out all the other thingsie motor mounts, torque arm. Check the color of your tranny fluid if it is still a nice translucent color your reverse drum clutches are probably still ok. I would then tend to believe that your piston which engages your reverse band is not working properly.
