My First Ticket

Today was not a good day!! I driving in town and I saw a cop at arbys and I wasn't speeding or nothing so I look in my rear view mirror and theres an ambulance so i hit the brakes and pull over then I look in my mirror again and the state trooper is behind me with lights flashing everywhere. He comes up and says I pulled you over for not yielding for the Ambulance and then says something about not having exhaust and i said yes I have a Flowmaster exhaust. So he says do I have to give you a ticket or can u fix it so I said i would fix it and then gives me a ticket for the exhaust!!!!! Then he starts walking back to his car and comes back and my window was rolled down almost all the way and he says you know your windows are to dark. So he gives me a ticket for Failure to Yield for Ambulance, Exhaust being to loud, AND My Tint to dark. He says the reason I didn't see the Ambulance was because my exhaust was too loud! What do I do?? Will my insurance go up?? Anybody had a similiar experience?? Any help would be good,
Thanks,
Justin

only thing insurance may go up for is failure to yeild since the other two are non-moving violations.

did he actually test the darkness of the tint? if he didn't then there's no actual proof that it was too dark so you should be able to get that one dropped.

as far as the exhaust goes, take it to a mechanic or something and have them test how loud it is. most states the limit is 95dB so if it's quieter than that and you have proof you should be able to get that dropped too.

for the failure to yeild, i'm not really sure how to get around that one other than to say that you did pull over, but they'll listen to the cop over you, so you might have some trouble with that one.

Sorry but I don't have a lot of information on Michigan. You should be able to get a statement from whoever did your tint and same for the exhaust. As long as you have notarized statements that they are legal you should get those dropped.

Assuming that these look like they are going away offer to plead guilty to one of them and have the failure to yield dropped. Otherwise see if Michigan has a deferment program or traffic school so the ticket will not show on your record.

Let me know what happens so I can add the info to my file. thanks.

Me and my dad did the tint and exhaust. I took the tint off today any way cuz it was 5% and in michigan u can only have it 4 inches from the top soo. thanks,
Justin

yea 5% is probably too dark in any state (unless you own a limo). you might be able to use the fact that you took the tint off to your advantage too.

Yeah, just tell the judge you looked up the tint and made it legal. You did say you pulled over for the ambulance; is there a time limit? Sounds like you pulled over as soon as you noticed it...
