98 Civic Ex Remote Program

My girlfriends got a 98 Civic Ex and her remote needs to be reprogrammed. I know we could just go to the dealer and have them do it like we did last time, and he told us how to do it for future use, but I dont remember how and dont feel like dealing with them. I know theres a button that doesnt look like one but really is on the stereo that you press and hold and it makes the doors lock and stuff and that has to do with programming it but I cant remember what else you have to do. If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks.
