85 tbird timing

I trying to time a 85 tbird, but having a little trouble. I don't know much about the car because its my fathers. My first question, is the number 1 cylinder the front right one(looking at the engine)? My next question is where are the timing marks? I don't see how I can time it from above. I got under the car and saw the harmonic damper but I don't see the metal timing thing. How do I check the timing?
