Gas Leak!

No, not a gasoline leak, but a ruptured natural gas line.

A construction crew digging in the road 6 houses down cut through a 4 inch high pressure gas line. The escaping gas sounded like a jet engine, for about an hour.
Since I have worked in heavy construction, I am familiar with the danger of this.
Now, what is wrong with people? When there is a significant danger of explosion/asphyxiation, they DON'T LEAVE THEIR HOUSES!!

I couldn't believe this. They stand around or walk towards the commotion. I tell my friends who live in the neighbourhood to leave, walk away even a couple of blocks, until the gas is shut off.
But they look at me as if I am from Mars speaking Swahili!! Can't these folks see the hazard?? Are they waiting for the possible fireball??

It even made the local news. Only the radio telling people to evacuate got them to leave.

Whats that phrase, curiousity killed the cat.

I am surprised no one walked towards it with a lit cigarette as dumb as people are. Shoot if it was me, I'll take your advise and walk far away. I've seen it on the news about these gas explosions and they are big.

Some folks just don't get it.

Did they finally shut it off?

I'd of thrown a match at it...but that's just me.....Strap a flare to a remote control airplane, that'd be funny....

The gas got shut off after an hour.
I did notice that the fire truck with HAZARDOUS MATERIALS UNIT written on the side (the experts, I presume) stayed 3 blocks away, until the gas was shut off.
I presume they know how to take care of themselves, even if everybody else turns into a BBQ

Bloody hell, I do wonder how some people manage to breathe.....
