battery light 1998

My Escort's battery light just came this morning while driving to work. After an hour, I went out to start it again and the light was still on. Everything else seems fine. No electrical problems. Radio and lights are fine. Any suggestions?

Have the alternator checked. Usually the battery light indicates that it is not being charged by the alternator. Your car may run alright for now but when the battery is completely drained it will no longer run.
