Okay, well, a jackass decided to steal my car and wreck it. I have a fortune in front end damage to get fixed... and, the airbag has deployed. I was wondering how it works. Do I have to get the whole stearing wheel replaced? Or just the bag? I have a 93 si 4ws. If I have to replace the stearing wheel, or even if it's just an option, is it possible to get a non-honda stearing wheel with airbag that's compatible with my car? The stearing wheel has a bunch of options/buttons on it. People keep telling me that the airbag will cost me over a grand! I found a company online I can get one for $225. Is it the work that cost so much then??? Or do they just think it has to cost so much because they go to the dealer or something? Okay, any info is appreciated guys. Thanks!

The device may be cheap, but companies will charge you at most $2000 for installation per airbag.

I don't think it should be that much. ($2000)
I have a 96 prelude I bought wrecked and it needed airbags I got them from ebay for $250
so $225 sounds purty good if you get the module for it. Other then I took mine out and put the new ones in myself. They are not hooked up though not sure how to hook them up I don't want them to blow I would have to replace the windshiled again.. And I went to a honda dealership and think they qouted me a little more then $100 to hook them up so that aint that bad. As for an aftermaket steering wheel I have no idea I just know that if a car came with airbags in stock you can't just put on an aftermarket steering wheel without airbags ( it won't pass inspection at leat where I live) also you don't have to replace the whole steering wheel just the airbag and it ain't hard to take out All you need is a star bit the one thats a pain in the ass is the passenger you pratically have to take the whole dash out...

alright, thanks for the info guys. The body shop i'm going to get my car fixed at said they'll just add that to the labor, if I get the airbag and give it to them. They found ONE front end that's good, for 2200. Unfortunatly, I wont be able to afford it til the end of sept. ... probably be gone by then! The yard that has it told them it's a 'hot item'. must... get... 2200... NOW!

Okay, I have a question. This module you speak of, I didn't see anything other than the airbag computer on the site... is that what you're talkin' about?

it should be a little box if you can take out the one from your car it should be located inside the middle console at the botton where your radio is at least thats where a civics and most other cars then compare it to the one you are trying to buy.
