Well the evo will take all that you can dish out and will more then "hang" with turbo civics and tegs. Id get an SRT as a first car. Better dip into the performacne cars. Plus theyre alot more fun.

Yeah, plus they cots almost 10k less. The evo is a good car no matter what skill you have but it is a little expensive.

First, you don't NEED a fast car you WANT a fast car. Second, i'll be waiting for this thread after you get it:

OMG!!!! I Crashed my EVO!!! pics (1 2 3)

dont get an evo as a first car, your gonna loose your license so fast, and the srt-4's arent very dependable, go with an acura rsx type-s or something like that

EvoCrazy
08-21-2004, 05:05 PM
The Evo will KILL turbo Civics, and Integras stock. Thats whats so damn good about that car. The Evo is VERY fast, and it might not be the best as a first car. Get a RSX-S because thats fast but not like the Evo. If you want the Evo, its your money/choice, then get the Evo, but be carful because that thing is fast.

An Evo i a whole lot of car for a first car umm its your money I am just giving out advise. all in all yeah the car is great but for the price go get a STI and take a driving course and then get out on the road and kill fools either car you get I strongly suggest the driving course. if you are getting an all wheel drive car

I'd go with the Evo. I've Raced one and let me tell you. Damb that thing hauls ass.

Killa_DSM
08-26-2004, 01:53 AM
But im thinkin, if your a biginner you should'nt be driving somthing with that much power. If you cant control it you could kill yourself and even others.

racer_r
08-26-2004, 02:03 AM
Right, but it doesn't take that much knowledge to drive the Evo....It takes alot of skill to Race an Evo.

08-26-2004, 01:46 PM
i agree with Aj2488, get a RSX Type-S. its really good and reliable. Evo 8 rite now are too expensive. Type-S are like 10k less too, but if u want something relaible get the RSX. My cousin has a Typs-S and is beatin ricers with turbo with ease, oh yeah, and his RSX is PURE ENGINE

EvoCrazy
08-26-2004, 04:01 PM
Unless your gonna constantly floor it, the Evo wont be THAT dangerous. Its not like your going in a Formula 1 car, so theres not too much you gotta worry about. But like Racer R said, its not that hard to drive one, but racing one is a different story. Racing any car on a track (non drag) is hard, and if you want to do that, then go to a driving school.

racer_r
08-26-2004, 04:57 PM
And after a few weeks of driving the Evo you'll be use to it. It's just like any other car just with alot of power. Most people who buy brand new cars have to break them in anyways so its not like the day you get it you'll be racing it. Unless your retarded.

CaTasHtRoPhE 67
08-26-2004, 05:25 PM
only a dumass would with no experceing would race it the first day

racer_r
08-26-2004, 05:28 PM
That's the point I'm trying to make. Nobody races the first day with a car they don't have experience with.

Killa_DSM
08-26-2004, 06:06 PM
But what im saying is that for a biginner having no experience what so ever driving a powerful car is not a good idea. With no experience driving a car with around 300 hp is not good. You know how yung kids are these days... They always wont to show off or do somthing stupid.

CaTasHtRoPhE 67
08-26-2004, 06:37 PM
who cares if he gets the car he crash or does somthing stupid thats his only problem if he can afford to get the car well probley is parents are paying for and the higb insurance thin he can pay for all the mistakes he gonna make

racer_r
08-29-2004, 09:08 PM
Yeah.....Plus if he really wants the car then he is going to respect it and not do anything stupid......We hope..... You know how yung kids are these days... They always wont to show off or do somthing stupid

Get a Ford Festiva. You can beat on it all you want, and you'll probably pay 99% of your cash when you blow the Festiva's engine rather than the Evo's. ;) .

Seriously though, i'm not being an asshole, at least i don't intend to be one. But if you say your going to beat on it constantly, than you will ruin the motor. Every motor has it's limits, and beating on them constantly only brings you closer to that limit. So rather than blow ~(around)30 grand on a car to beat on, spend about 300 on one, get the majority of it out of your system, than get the EVO when your ready to take care of it.

But overall, it's your decision, and may you have more power to it. :)

EvoCrazy
08-31-2004, 12:13 PM
You want the Evo, get the Evo. Keep it stock, untill you are sure you are ready for more power. But, just make sure you have enough experience, and know your car. If he wants the car, he should get it.

you have to learn TURBO first, start out with some thing cheap and with turbo if you want an EVO later on.

well what is a car that is good to learn turbo on my friend suggested a turbo civic but i dont like the idea of adding boost to a engine that was not meant for it so what are some reliable cars that come STOCK with turbo

Eclipse, Talon, and ahhh I cant think of anymore. I say just go with the Evo, you will get use to it. Dont worry, just know not to floor it. Get use to the car, and you will be fine.

high on-rice...ive got the same problem! I have always loved the evos and always wanted one, but my boyfriend has been telling me that it might not be a good first car. I agree with the people that say go for it and just get use to it and just dont floor it untill ya do. anyway, i was wondering if anyone knows if an evo is a good winter car?

racer_r
09-07-2004, 04:07 PM
The Evo is a good winter car where I live because it rarely rains here.... But it should handle relativley good nomatter where you live because of it's all wheel drive technology... I think I'd go out and practice in an empty parking lot so you get used to the power and the conditions.....Good Luck

racer_r

There is no way in the world that you going to be able to afford an Evo working at Home Depot....My dad can't even afford one....Shit I can't either.....

lancerlady03
09-14-2004, 10:16 PM
I will hopefully have an evo by the end of the month, because i am so tired of people giving me crap about my OZ and how it isn't a "REAL" car. Anyway, enough of that. The point is that I have found that the evo for me will cost around $440/month, but that might change depending on how much you buy one for and also how high your interest rate is. I just have to get rid of my truck before i can get my evo.

Zero8985
09-14-2004, 10:51 PM
If you finance, you have to have full coverage insurance, right? You might wanna factor that into your $440, along with other things like gas, and mantainance (oil change, brakes, etc.)

racer_r
09-14-2004, 11:01 PM
Yeah the payment may be cheap, but you have to inckude all of the little extra's.....

JeSsToNeS
09-15-2004, 01:47 AM
Full Time + 10.50 = Me getting an Evo. With insurance and monthly payment, it all comes out of about 700 to 800 bucks a month or every 2 months i forget, but im pretty sure i can do that with a full time job and the pay. Not like im gonna go crazy with the mods. I'll probably only do a little cosmetic modding and some simple engine mods, other wise the EVO in my opinion is just fine in stock form.

EvoCrazy

Yeah, I'm thankful they care about me. My uncle is REALLY nice. But, I do help him out at the company at summer time, so maybe the Evo is also payback for that.

lancerlady03
09-20-2004, 03:47 PM
I don't mean this disrespectfully, but don't you BOYS think that you would appreciate the EVO more if you paid for it on your own? I can't believe you guys have the nuts to get on the threads and put people down because they are not putting enough horsepower in their EVO's or because their car is more of a "show car" than a ''Peformance car. Especially when you haven't even put a penny into yours.(or the one your uncle/father are going to pay for :loser: ) I just don't think that if you are not going to pay for it, then you should keep your mouth closed when you are about the "dis" someone else for liking what they like.

racer_r
09-20-2004, 05:43 PM
I know that an Evo will kill anything,,, but I don't think it stands a chance against my car in a show vs power.. And when you buy a car for yourself your damb strait it means alot more because you had to put cold hard cash down... You just didn't get it.... Plus anytime I see an Evo I race it...Just to show my show car can kick it with an Evo.....Evo=Show Down......http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/banghead.gif

I never put people with Evos down, and yea I do put show car guys down becasue they are hurting the import world. I understand what you are saying about paying for it yourself, but hey, I DID work over the past 2 summers, without getting paid a lot. So, I pretty much wasted my summer working for almost nothing, I think the Evo would be a nice gift. Hey, would you say no if someone offered it to you? I wouldnt.

It is your fault that you worked for "almost nothing". You are right, an EVO would be an amazing gift. All I was saying is that you won't get as much respect for your car as soon as people find out that your uncle paid for it. It would be a different story if he put the down payment on it or something like that. I just hope your not one of those spoiled little brats in highschool that get anything they want when they cry about it long enough. :crying: Again you are right, I wouldn't turn down an Evo if someone offered one to me. I just don't think it would ever feel like it was my Evo. Most people feel better about their car and themselves when they earn it. I'm sure you earned something over the past 2 summers but it probably wasn't $35,000. Oh yeah, and how do you figure that show people are "hurting the import world"?

I dont like FWDs. I'm into road racing and drifting, so you know FWDs arnt as good as the rest. And about show cars hurting the import world. Well, look at 2 Fast 2 Furious and look at how they represent imports. The imports got the TVs, gay looken paint jobs, and RICED out. Now look at the muscle cars in those movies. The muscle cars are ALL power, and now those muscle guys look at imports and sterotype that all imports are "bling bling" I am a all go, no show type, and thats what I was taught. So, I hate show cars not only because they are making imports look bad, but because, its just not me.

totally random question....but does anyone know what Initial D is?

EvoCrazy
09-24-2004, 01:08 PM
Initial D (un my opinion) TRULY represents what illeagal Japanese mountin drifting is. I only seen 4 episodes, but the ones I have seen I though it was very good. You should watch the Japanese version, I think its a lot better. Its VERY nice, and if you wanna see real Japanese drifting then you should watch it. Its not only a good Japanese anime, its also about drifting, so it combines my two hobbies into 1!

gooseman1

I have the full set of stage 1, 2 and 3... compiling stage 4..... great stuff.... you can actually get the basics of drifting...
