Hello i am new to this forum so please forgive me if this has been discussed previously,
I have owned a 2000 lincoln ls sport v8 for about 7 months now. Dream car love it never driven such a balanced car. There is one odd thing about how the car shifts. The tranny seems to slip and the rpms will shoot up real quick and then go back down if i am driving with little gas and the give it some gas. Would this be fixed by the pcm update i have read about? My dealer has been great and i would think they would have mentioned the pcm problem to me. (they fixed the leaky coils w/o my knowledge of them leaking, headlights, driver window etc)
basically is this a common problem or do i have a tranny on its way out?
the car drives exactly the same as when i got it, ie the "slip" has always been there. I have driven 1 other ls but i dont remember how it drives...
on a side note, do the dealers use synthetic oil in this car? they told me ford premium oil but the change was only $20. 6 liters of mobil 1 costs more than that not to mention a filter...

I have the exact same car with 51k miles and I'm having the same problem. I'm going to try and stop by a dealership tomorrow. I'll let you know what they tell me.

New to me. Sorry. IIRC, the dealership should be using a 10-30 synthetic BLEND. Similar to Castrol super-syn. I do my own changes, and use Mobil 1 full synthetic. Pricey, but good.

Did anyone find out the problem? My 2000 V8 is doing the exact same thing!

If you have had the PCM updated then the next thing ytou will want to explore is the solenoid pack and valve body. Both parts are typical suspects. If you are experiencing hesitant upshifts and delayed shifts into reverse.
These are filed replaceable parts but oyu will have to have Lincoln do a tranyy fluid replacement. If you do ti yourself it will take about 3 hours but you have to have the car towed to the dealer and have them do a fluid flush. Parts will set you back by about 600 dollars and the fluid flush is about 130.

if oyu begin using synthetic do not go back to diino their are caveats to doing so.
