Should oil be in spark plugs???

I have a 1990 honda accord ex...4 cylinder. When I remove the spark plug wires from the head, there is oil in the chamber where the spark plugs are? I don't think that's normal....but I may be wrong. If that is a problem....what is the part I need to replace...I see online shops selling spark plug seals...is that what I need. I'd appreciate any help...thanks.

No it is not normal , I had the same problem , you need to go to the dealer and purchase 4 small round gaskets , your gaskets are worn out , if you feel comfortable doing it yourself , you have to remove the valve cover , I think there are 4 acorn nuts securing the cover , remove old gaskets and install new ones , it's probably wise to pickup a new seal for the valve cover as well since you have it off . Also when your done do not over tighten the acorn nuts , you could snap them if your not careful . Good luck :smokin:

No need to go to the dealer to get the parts , they'll just rape you... Just make a trip to your local auto parts store and buy the whole kit.(valve cover gasket and spark plug gaskets.)

not always a case.
set of gaskets for valve cover cost about $27+shipping and about $35+ tax at list price (dealer price).
it includes all rubber gaskets that you'll need.

i bought the valve cover gasket kit for a friend and installed it all on his car. cake walk. cost me 14 bucks here in SoCal. his car had the same problem, he had no power when he gassed it until like 20MPH then it would start kickin in. a "mechanic" told him his valve's were sticking. HAHAHA dumbshit. 14 bucks and 15 min later his accord ran like new.

P.S. the kit came with valve cover gaskets, the spark plug seals (the main problem) and the washers and bolts that hold the valve cover on. :)

Dealer sells spark plug seals for about 2.40 ea. If the valve gasket for about 8.00 ea. If you don't need the bolt seals, the dealer is the best bet.

I just changed the seals. Car runs so much better now. I have power from 0-20 now, yay. Thanks guys

ok i'm currently changing my gaskets as i have the same leak. the kit comes with two small sets of 4 spkplg tube rings. One set going on the underside of the valve cover, but where do the smaller rings go?

Under the hold down nuts.

nah not the bolt washers, i got those too. There are the 4 flat rings for spkplg tubes that go on the underside of the valve cover but theres 4 more round rings the same diameter, where do these go?

Maybe they are for a different model that uses round gaskets. To reduce the number of part numbers, gasket manufactures sometimes will include gaskets for 2 different but similar models.
