so everyone knows about my attention whore's need for maintenance. Well, today I noticed that she had leaked out a lot of water while I was at physical therapy. I started her up and drove her around the corner to the water machine at the gas station. I lifted the hood, touched the radiator cap, it wasn't hot (I had only driven it less than a block) so I put my hand on it and gave it a twist, suddenly the radiator cap was about 200 degrees and I scalded and blistered the palm of my hand! Son of a bitch that hurts! I SO should have known better. So my question is, what vehicular maintenance injuries have you given yourself that make you want to kick your own ass for their stupidity (or is it just me?) :)

as a matter of fact I do, your 2x4 hood holder is the same design I use on my 3rd gen. lol I'm glad to see I'm not the only one sporting wood under the hood (and that's literal, not figurative ;) )

when i was re-installing my differential from changing the gears, i pulled out one of the shims that came in the install kit, looked at my buddy, and said, "damn look how thin these are, someone could cut themselves on these things" ten minutes later when i was trying to push one of these shims into the rear-end, my buddy who was holding the diff slipped and my hand slid and i sliced the palm of my hand open on the shim. he asked if i was ok, i replied with, "remember how i said some one could cut themselves with one of these shims? yeah, well its true"...

Ahahaha omg, you guys think the hoods are heavy??? Try having the WHORE OF A SIZE hatch fall on your shoulder. Guess I shouldnt have trusted the old broomstick that came with the car to hold it up. The trans ams with those crappy urethane spoilers weigh even more its retarded. I think I paid like 80 bucks for new hatch struts, but now when I pop the trunk the thing comes flying up because I can even get around to there.

This one is part stupidity part gross. When I was still working at the Mustang shop I use to work in the machine shop a lot. If you ever been in a machine shop you know that there are metal shavings all over the place and flying everywhere. Well the stupid part is I almost never wore my safety glasses like I was suppose to.
One day I was working and some metal shot in to my eyes. I quickly went and washed it out and it felt fine. Next morning I wake up and I can't open my left eye at all, covered in nasty crusty shit and it burns like a fucker. I goto the eye doc he prys my eye open takes one look and says you work in a machine shop right?
I guess some of the metal slivers dug into my eye and it healed over. Problem was the metal rusted and was causing all my issues. Here is the gross part. The doc had to freeze my eye and then drill my eyeball to get the metal out. Needless to say I always wear eye protection now. loL

well I can definatly say Ive had my share of Ghetto rigged hood supports!! New ones around here are like $40 a piece..
2x4's dont work so well.. Clumsy and oddshaped.. I liked using a rake.. or broom stick.. My favorite was a pair of locking pliers!! Just clamp a pair onto one of your hood shocks and you can have a pow wow under that hood and it wont come down! Providing the locking pliers are on tight enough...
Ive also had a 700R4 fall on me, both hood and hatch from 3rd gen fall on me.. Anyone ever been pushin REAL hard on a ratchet?? Had the ratchet slip off because you were using a big wrench as a snipe instead of a snipe? Well its not pretty.. Large gash on my forhead from hittin it on the edge of the hood and all the skin was torn off my knuckles from the turbo elbow.. hurt like a muther%##$#@!

well, ive probly got more stupid accident stories than my fair share, working on an LS1 is like sifting your hands through a bag of razor blades, but the worst by far ive seen, was a guy with a ponytail setting the timing on a 1970 nova. ponytail got caught in the belt, wrapped around a pully, it pulled is face down into the cooling fan, and ripped a part of his scalp off. it was bad. only thing that saved his life was he managed to pull the coil wire off the distributor and coil to kill the engine.
