oil...

wow i feel a lil stupid, ok, about a year ago i got my fathers 1993 1.9L station wagon when he got a new saturn. he told me to use 10w-30. and now i feel like an idiot cuz i just noticed the other day that the oil cap says use 5w-30. is this a big prob, cuz its been running fine on, or could i be losing power from it, anything of the sort? i wouldnt know im not the smartest car person either but i am listening. also would this maybe why i didnt pass emissions even with a brand new exaust?

I'm sure that 10W30 is fine. I wouldn't worry about that at all.

That's alright. Just avoid put pancake syrup or Jell-O in there and you should be fine. :)

I use 20w50, but mine is about on 300,000mi.

I also use Valvoline oil and Motorcraft filters too

Hope and pray that it don't give out. Usually by that time the Shocks/struts, and if not the whole stering sector is wore slam out. All the rubber stuff for the stering needs TLC, trust me,it got put off on mine and now my car sqeaks like hell, the camber is off. the wheel bearings are shot, but the stering sector is so bad that it don't really matter if you do put new berings in. the shock absorbers, (The little rubber pads behind the struts) are dryrotted. the brackets that hold the stering in place tend to fall off because of dryrott. When all that happens, be sure not to put new tires on it anymore, put used tires on it cause they eat away in about a month. The font end rebuild kit will cost about the price of a `95 model escort with about 100,000 mi on it. So like I said, hope and pray.
