I posted that in school, I was in a rush, I'll elaborate:
I need a moving Blue flame, I can make the flames in photoshop, but I want to make them move, as an animated gif. So, I really need software to make a gif.
Sorry for the poorly written post earlier, my school has incredibly tough punishments for being on non academic sites.

if you have adobe you also have imageready, so you'll be able to animate in imageready...

I used the Filter>Liquify on my first attempt to make more realistic flames, and worked well, but now when I use it, it acts like an eraser tool. What setting has gotten messed up?

I use Ulead gif animator. I used it to make my sig. Note the flames @ the end. Are you looking for something kinda like that?
Do ya have the flames you are trying to animate?

I've got 3 flame images I'm going to try to animate with Imageready, as soon as I can figure it out.

I had photoshop installed on my computer, but I don't have imageready. How can I get it without buying photoshop?

If you have the CD for Photoshop, just re-install it to the directory its in right now. during the installation, choose not to install Photoshop, but install Imageready. thats what i did/ your current photoshop installation wont be affected, as long as you choose not to install photoshop.
