While driving down the road the truck just dies. If you pull over and wait a few minutes, it will start up again. We have had the Ford Dealer replace the ignition module, the fuel pump and the fuel pump on the A-frame. However, this has not corrected the problem. Any ideas?? Thank you for your help.

Just went through this problem with my '88. Have your mechanic look at the "shock" sensor that deprives the engine of fuel, thus killing the engine in case of an accident. On mine, the switch old and tired (and possibly had something wrong with it)and the heat from the engine would cause it to "switch into off".

Hi my name is Jb. I have a 1979 Ford Courier. It has 101, 700 original miles. The fuel pump (new) , Caburator (rebuilt),and fuel lines have all been repalced. It has a new distrabutor cap and spark plugs. The fuel filters (new) have been changed and new sparks plugs. the problem was it would drive for a while and then just stop, sputtering like it wasn't getting fuel. It did it on me again and we are running out of ideas. Do you know if the 79 has a shock sensor? I was told by my brother in law he had a truck that acted similair and his mechanic tore the engine down and found it was not getting enough air. What do you think on this one?

I had a simlilar situation with stalling on a ford and after many replacement parts it ended up being a hall sensor that sit inside the distributor.
We'd drive it like 20 minutes and it would stall, sit awhile it would start back up for however long and stall again. It was not to bad a job pulling distributor as long as you mark everything to put it back in identically as before. Hope this helps or gives you insight.
