Signal Light Dim

The signal light on the trailer I tow with my '96 Rodeo uses a #1157
bulb. The brake lights are very bright, but the turn signal is quite dim. Any ideas?

maybe a bad wire in the trail harness somewhere?

I just replaced a shorted wiring harness with a new one. The turn signal lights were dim before, and they are again with the new harness. I will check the voltage, but I am wondering if I should maybe switch to LED’s.
