which sr20det should i get?

i was curious which generation of sr20det would be good for my car. i have a 1991 240sx se coupe. i was curiuos because i am torn between s14 or s13. i know s14 has better gearing, little more horse, and VTC. is the VTC really worth it? any help with my choice would be greatly appreciated.

S14? Screw that, redtop det is all youll ever need.

S14 and S15 SRs are a PITA to do in an S13. Mainly wiring. Gearing, as far as I know is the same for S13 and S14s. S14s have a larger turbo.

I say go with either red or blacktop S13 SR. Blacktop will always be newer with usually less mileage and some say they take to higher boost better than Redtops, but thats unproven to me.

and difference between redtop blacktop really is nothing just the blacktop is taken out of a newer year of the silvia. redtop some may have come out of the 180sx not entirely sure, but main difference is blacktop is newer so should have less miles

s13 all the way dont go through the hassle of the s14 the s14 has a bigger turbo and the vvt and makes 20 more horses id just go w/ the s13

the funny thing is my brother was pushing for me to get the rb20det but since i told him i'd much rather do sr20det swap he wanted the s14. he has a s15 in his 95 240 and i think he is finishing up a rb20det in a s13 fastback, since he is helping me do the swap i wasn't sure. i was leaning more towards the s13 for the easier fit myself and cheaper price. but i think he could get a s14 motor everything and a blitz front mount for 2550 not sure though.

but like i said since i have been wanting s13 to keep with my 240 i will do that swap. plus with all the plentiful information you guys left me it does sound better for the s13 swap. thanks again greatly appreciated with the help and quick responses

I've never heard of the CA20DET... I'm pretty sure, (not positive) that there is no such thing. There is a ca18det, and the sr20det.
