Mold in ventilation system

Hi,

I have Dodge Intrepid 2000. About 6 months ago the unpleasent smell appears. Dealer mentioned - it is a mold in the ventilation system
The car was clened several times with different sprays by delaer and by myself. Nothing works - the smell is back usually in 2-3 days.
Is there any way to get rid of mold?

first thing to do, check underneath your car and see if your evaporator drain plug is free and clear. If not get high pressure air to blow out anything that's clogging it. As far as getting rid of the mold, get your cleaner and let the A/C run for a while see to see if water comes out the drain. Last resort that you'll want is to go to the dealer b/c what they do (trust me I've done this, I used to work for a dealer) is pull the dashboard out and clean the evaporator out.

I have a similar problem. Everytime I turn the defrost on, the dash window steams up for 15-20 seconds. The car has a musty smell. I thought it might be a heater core, but I will check the evaporator drain plug first. Now I only need to know where to look for it. Any help?
Thanks.

Look underneath your car on the passenger side firewall, you should see a little black tube just to the left of the exhaust pipe. If that's clogged, you can do one of two things to clear it out: 1) get compressed air and put it in the tube to blow it out. 2) find a stick or an old hanger and stick it up the tube to force out any leaves, twigs or other crap that can get gummed up in the drain tube.
