I have found my new love, her name is MR2! I have wanted to buy one for some time but always hesitated at the idea of working on one. I got a hold of a '91 MR2, It hasn't arived yet sadly. Although it has a blown engine I still have big plans for her. I was a Nissan guy before this so the terms of the MR2 world are new to me. Just wondering if anybody wanted to gives some engine replacment ideas. Is it best to go with the JDM twin entry turbo that I know will fit, shall I say "Nicely", or is there a better motor like the 3sgte out of a Celica?
Thanks

What engine is in the MR2 you are buying?

If you want turbo, and you live in the US, I would recommend getting the US 3SGTE.

The US 3sgte is that from an MR2 or Celica, if it is from the Celica I will need to use the transmison from my car, do to the awd transmision that comes with most of them. But is there anything else, like particular parts that will be needed, other then the basic making it work method that I have grown accustomed to.

Also JekylandHyde do mind me asking what engine it is picture in the "Hyde's Engine's Final Round Of Bling"

I was refering to the US 3SGTE engien FOR the MR2.
That is what is in my car ... it came with it.

You do not want a 3SGTE from a celica. There are too many differences and you would be tracking down too many parts.

Is your MR2 a turbo or non-turbo?

If it is a non-turbo, you are going ot need the turbo tranny as well.

I don't know which of the models the MR2 is wether it be turbo or not, because I haven't seen it yet, and the guy who is selling has no clue. I guessed as much as having to get a tran off a turbo model if mine was not. I can get a rear clip from venus-auto.com for the car, I just need to call them today to see how much it is. Do know any better places to get a rear clip from. I live way up in Maine (no not Canada) and there isn't any MR2s up here really, so no junkyard hunting for me.
