Hi all, first post so i hope you can all help me out!

Im looking at buying the above from an internet site, and i am looking for more information on the engine. I have tried searching but have not really come up with anything before anyone flames me!

What Iam trying to establish, is which engine will this 89 Crx UK Spec have?

I have looked at pics from under the bonnet, and there are no marking on the engine, so im not even sure if it is a SOHC or DOHC!

Any help appreciated!

The UK 1.6 16 CRX will have a DOHC D16A9 engine. Multipoint fuel injection is standard. High possibility that there will be no catalyst on exhaust so power output is good. Standard power output is 130 BHP. I have a UK Civic 1.6 16 and it is a good engine that pulls strongly in all gears. It can be very quick when you want it to be but can also be very economical too. I get 35 mpg urban and can achieve 45mpg+ on a run.

Hope this helps

Cheers guys, well I bought the Honda! Picking it up this afternoon. Has a set of 16" 12 Spoke Team Dynamics Alloys, with Pipercross Induction kit, and also has a Quad DTM Exhaust. The previous owner also had a power boost valve fitted. Has also been lowered 40mm, and is fitted with low profile Yokohama tyres. Its white, has done 120k miles, with not a spec of rust in sight.

The interior has also been modded. The centre console is red, as are the air vents and gear stick. Has red LED lights behind the vents, and a LED Trim all the way around the dash. It sounds quite tacky but it looks quite good. Also have some Halogen Fog lights behind the grill at the front.

Quite a tidy little car! Cost me £1250, not bad at all!

Thanks for the help!

One more quick thing, all the other CRX's that i have looked at have had a cover over the engine itself, with DOHC, or VTEC on it. Mine is just bare, which was why i was unsure about the engine type. Can anyone explain this?

What sort of 0-60 mph and 1/4 mile times can i expect from this little CRX? Should i assume around the same times as the Si?

Sorry for all the questions, I have tried searching, but cant find this info. Probably as its UK Spec car.

Thanks again.

The engine may well just have a black rocker cover split down the middle by the spark plugs. There will probably be no cover over the HT leads which the VTEC engines tend to have. One of the sides of the rocker cover may well have the silver Honda 'H' on it. This is the UK D16A9 engine. Or ZC as it is known outside the UK.

To confirm this. On front side of engine block at distributor end just below where cylinder head and block connect there is the engine ID number engraved into the block on a small flat part of the block. This should stand out as looking different when compared to the usual roughness of the cast block surface. It may be covered in oil & grime but can be wiped off with a small amount of engine degreasant or WD40 and a rag. Do this when engine is cold because you will be working close to the exhaust manifold and it can get knuckle removing hot! The ID number may well read D16A9.

I have heard the 0-60 time of the UK CRX with this engine to be in the region of 7.5 - 8.0 seconds. Not sure on 1/4 mile time.

Hope you enjoy the car.

its a zc
Edit* Nice first post by the way.

It's not a ZC - it's a revision of the ZC. ;) ZC is only a JDM designation, outside of Japan it's a D16A9 that came in Civics (Europe), CRXs (Europe and the Pacific) and 1st gen Integras and Rovers (Europe and the Pacific). It was also released in the EG Civic (Pacific). The motor is slightly detuned compared to the ZC.

Jordan: your car is a Si, the VTEC models are VTs and have another 20bhp in them (150bhp B16A motor).
