Need solid advice

Hi ladies and gents!! I am new to this board and looking for some solid advice.

My husband is on the road all the time now and wants me to sell his 1970 Chevy Nova. While the car and parts are all there, including a new rear tub out last year, there is no engine or tranny for this car (removed to another car last year). This was essentially a frame-off restoration and the car is a rolling chassis at this point. I have asked several friends about this car and been given the advice of anywhere from $3,000.00-$4,500.00 for a selling price, but I'm dumb as a stump on the value of this particular car and thought I would seek out some expert advice.

I have tried to sell the car locally, but haven't had more than passing interest. My husband suggested that I sell it on Ebay, however, I don't want to waste a $40.00 listing fee to have it not sell.

So, my question is - You have a gray primered rolling chassis 1970 Chevy Nova (no engine, no tranny) with a recent $1,500.00 rear tub out (have receipt), partial body work completion and all parts are available except engine and tranny - what would you ask for it and feel comfortable that you could sell it? I am going to ask for local pickup only or that if they want it shipped, they will have to pay that cost (altho' I will help in any way that I can).

HELP ME!!!!!!!! :banghead:

Your husband is correct, E-bay is the way to go. It's such a specialised piece, the market for this is quite small, so advertise nationwide. The chances of someone locally taking it for what its worth are small.
As for not selling, you will sell it, it will get bids. The only concern is whether they will meet your reserve.

As for price....you will never get what you have put into it. I would say $1500 minimum, if you get $4000 or more, count yourself lucky.

Wade, the "car" itself is in my garage. The doors, hood, seats, interior, chrome, etc. etc. are all stored at a local body shop with a friend who was assisting in the work being done on the car. If the physical location of where the car is isn't what you meant, the car is in Ohio (southeast, near Athens). Not sure what "where" meant, so thought I would cover both bases.

I'm still fighting with myself on what to do. I've got some great advice here on the boards and also from some of the guys at Ebay who sell cars. The consensus has been to sell it as a car versus parts and accessories as I do have all of the parts (less engine and tranny), have a clear title, take into account the wheel tub work that has been done and to just describe it as best I can, take lots of pictures and encourage questions (altho' I may or may not be able to answer them). I need to try to make at least what we've put in it, which would be around $3,900.00 so far, but it's looking kinda dismal that it would sell for that. So, I'm just holding off until I get as much of a description together as I can and take alot of pictures. I'm hoping to list it by next weekend.

Ohio is what i ment when i asked where it was at. I'm in Ca so its to far to get for me. But its kinda what me and my son is looking for.
As for the worth of the car. Go to the on line car sale adds and see what others are asking for about the same thing you have. Like auto trader .com
About E-Bay I dont like buying stuff I cant see in person.
From what I have seen on line you might be able to get about 4,000 for it. List it as a project car. Also it depends on how fast you need to sell it. If your not in to much of a hurry then ask for what you have in it then as time goes you can always come down.
Go to all the Chevy and Nova Message boards you can find and put it on them. its free. And their the ones that are looking for Novas. I would do that before I spend money on E-Bay
