2001 Explorer Sport Electrical System

Has the 20001 Sport ever had an electrical recall? My radio/cd audio has been cutting out, popping, staying gone for days, working fine on other days. For weeks, when it quit working (the audio)I'd put the driver
side window down - audio would come back. Now that trick doesn't work anymore. If I go over a bump, it either begins to or stops working. Next bump it goes back on or off. Now the turn signals are messed up too - they are blinking really fast - but only sometimes. Sometimess they work fine.

I took it in to 2 different dealers while it was still under warranty - it worked perfectly, of course. Now the warranty has expired and I can't afford many 100s of bucks to get it fixed.

I know there have been a lot of recalls on this particular exploder - anything for mixed up electrical systems?

Not sure about any recalls, but I had a problem with my turn signals too. The right one would blink fast every once in a while. Usually this indicates a bad bulb, so I replaced them twice. I then figured out it only would blink fast when the tilt steering wheel was in a certain position. I just keep it off of that position and it works fine. you gotta love those electrcal engineers huh?

not sure about the audio - most probably a bad ground - I beleive your radio and gem(which controls windows) share a ground bus - the blinkers are either a bad multi funtion switch (about 90%) or a broken lock tab on the multi funtion switch connector (this also causes the fast blikers with tilt wheel) and there is a replacement pigtail available for this concern
