Hi I am Interested in getting a GSX sometime soon. I would like to find one with a 5 speed or an Auto, and I plan on running a Stage 1 turbo system in it. My Question is this what can the auto tranny handel as far as hp is concerned?
I would like to have so I would not lose any boost if it is possible.

the stock A/T torque converter can handle about up to 300hps before it loses too much efficiency. it is strongly recommanded to change to a better, higher stall TC before you go beyond 300hps. and a better, firmer shift kit will also need to be upgraded.

if you wanna go "hardcore racer" get an auto. if ya wanna go a little cheaper, get stick.
i have auto in my TSi AWD and im happy i didnt go with manual. once you get some serious HP to the ground, you will fall in love with the automatic

I have found a GSX it is an auto. What Company makes a good stall converter and a shift improvement kit?

IPT sells quality high stall converter as well as custom built one. you can find all kinds of A/T upgrade on their site. from TC to shift kit to end clutch and valve body. when you go up to some real serious hps like 400+ you might wanna consider have them custom rebuild your entire tranny with custom built TC. but for now a high stall TC and shift kit from them should sufice. you'l notice A LOT of performance difference. i've spoken to the owner on the phone. he's very nice and very helpful. wasn't trying to sell me his shit. he actually helped me find my problems on my tranny.

i don't have it on the top of my mind. something performance.com... go to dsmtuner's website and go to product catagory and look for torque converter. it'll list IPT's product and web address

Autos are a pain in the ass with oil coolers, shift kits, torque converter.. etc. The fast DSMs use 5 speeds, down to 8.6 sec 1/4 mile times. That said, the auto is still decent. Locally the fastest DSM (soon to change) is an auto, and ran 11's. He of course had some transmission upgrades.

HATER!! LOL
it's still much cheaper than a swap tho joe. a swap'll cost $6000 while a rebuild'll only run less than 3G.

Yep, just trying to balance the scale.. don't want someone buying an auto car off the bat because it's faster.

Well you see, you can only drive so fast on the road. This GSX that I want to get will never see the track, I plan on getting to know the car before I mod the hell out of it, heck I might not even mod anything. I am just looking at my options. I cant really operate a manuel trans though I try to because my work car is a 5 speed. thanks
