Funny Driving Stories

I was just thinking and I just remembered a funny incident that happened a couple years ago.

I went to hang out with a friend of mine who lived in Ithaca, NY. We were doing work on my car.. and needed to run into town for something. So, we took his '79 Porsche 924 (as my car was probably on jack stands with the wheels off :D). We, of course, took the back way.

We got onto the road leading into town (still a bit out of town) and got behind some guy going way slow. Apparently there were 2 obvious things wrong with the guy's car

1: it had a dirty windshield
2: it had poorly aimed windshield washer squirters. They went to wash their windshield (reason #1 is an assumption here), and the jet of washer fluid went right up over their car, and onto the windshield of the porsche. We almost had to pull over b/c of laughter

Hmmmm.....

Message: Got to share this with you guys - it's quite long but worth it.All details, names dates etc will be excluded to protect the terminally stupid!
Picture this - guy in designer tracksuit comes out of the gym to find the battery in his s.u.v. has gone flat.Back inside he trots, emerging with a small female friend. She dissappears around the corner, comes back driving a Honda Civic.......

Immediately I sense a "FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS" moment coming up.Too bad my camera is at home.

Step 1... Out come the jumper cables. The battery in the s.u.v. probably weighs more than the Honda.
Lady guns Honda motor, tracksuit boy turns key in s.u.v...Nothing. Not even that clicking noise. Tries until jumper cables start to smoke, then burns his hand on the clips.Back into the gym.

Step 2...Gone to phone a tow truck? Heck no! Our hero emerges with two skipping ropes and ties s.u.v.to Civic.Lady looks concerned.Tracksuit boy
negotiates, pleads, and presses lady into the s.u.v.
It looks like she's never driven a manual before let alone tow started one.....

Step 3....In a cloud of clutch smoke the Civic screams down the road in low gear. Our hero franticaly gestures to heroine in s.u.v. As the clutch pedal comes up, the ropes part and the truck stops dead.Repeat this step twice until rope is too short to try again.

Step 4....Inspiration! our hero rolls out the winch on the front bumper and hitches it to the Civic......Why have you never got the camcorder when you most need it?......Consults hand book from glovebox and plays with winch controls for a couple more minutes.

Step 5...Change ends- This lady has no idea,I'll do it myself. Our hero persuades long suffering Civic owner to pilot the convoy. With a fixed stare and a full throttle, she guns the motor. The Civic thashes wildly from side to side on the end of the wire cable.Tracksuit boy watches in horror and then lets go the handbrake.

The wire goes slack, then with a sound like a whiplash comes tight again. The Civic lurches and bounds down the road like a startled deer.
Tracksuit boy realises to his horror that he didn't instruct his lady on correct speed, and she will probably keep accelerating. At high speed he attempts to slip the clutch.......

What followed was not at all pretty. The s.u.v. shuddered violently and the winch wire whipped tight. The Civic carried on for a few yards minus its rear axle and sub frame, then skidded sideways across two lanes. The good news is that the s.u.v. started. The bad news is that tracksuit boy panicked, bounced over the Honda axle and lost control when his own winch rope tangled around his front wheel. The good news is that the Civic was already wrecked before he rammed it.
