changing suspension in a 95 jetta gl

is there anything special i should know before helping my friend change his suspension in his jetta...ive done suspension on a civic an integra and my maxima but i know sometime vw is known for having some twists in what theyve got. so is there anything else i need to change this suspension or just regular socket set should be enough?
