PistonHeads owner speaks up! A must-read.

The unnamed owner of an F1 road car that I mentioned in the earlier thread has now broken his silence and made his first post. And he has made QUITE the entrance!

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=116008

Grab a cup of coffee - it's riveting reading.

Is this the singularly most verbose public posting of the experience of owning an F1 ever made? Certainly seems like it.

And Erik, you were right - it is the blue car. How did you come to that conclusion?

We could have continued this discussion in the original thread...

Anyway, my guessing it was the blue car was merely a guess. You could call it an educated one if you want, but truly it was speculation based on the location and the fact that the owner has spent some time at the track.

I read through his first post, but haven't time to read all the replies yet. I'll try to pop into that thread later. I have a PH account, but currently can't recall the password for it and don't have access to the email account I used to register it. :banghead:

Hello,

Thanks ! l will read that.

I agree with peloton, I have also thinked about the light blue one because it has alredy been viewved (Dijon, Magny-Cours, Nurburgring, etc...) and that his owner was unknown.

For anyone who wanders in here, there's this set of photos of 'flemke's F1 that many will enjoy:

http://www.benphotos.net/auto.php?idcateg=38

I didn't check each one, but I know that most are uploaded at 1024x768 for your viewing pleasure.

There are some other photos on the bookatrack.com website, but you'd have to search there for them yourself as I don't have a handy link.

What's the chassis number of his car?

Peloton25
08-05-2004, 12:16 PM
We don't know - and the previous numbers that were speculated will now prove to be incorrect as we were guessing based on the color of the car, and in his first post he confirmed the car was originally silver/grey. If I can ever get over there and post, I do plan to ask if he minds sharing that info.

This is a great read! Two F1 owners opening up and sharing their ownership is fantastic to say the least. I think I want one more than ever now!

great he has had his coming out :p

he wrote:
"I don't know if I was sweating; I'll ask a friend who was there. Beforehand I was unsettled because, although up until the day before I had been quite relaxed, the night before I had a drink with a friend who lives near Frankfurt. This man is a master driver, has driven F1s a lot and has balls the size of coconuts (so I've been told, that is). Anyhow, he implored me not to do the run because he was convinced that at around 330kph the car becomes aerodynamically unstable. The fact that this gentleman once shunted an F1 at, er, 330kph along the same piece of Autobahn where I would be doing my run gave his voice a certain credibility. But once you've started a project, you keep going, right?"

do you also think, that he's talking about thomas bscher???we all know about his speed.....

Hello,

a unique thing is strange for me : he hit the rev-limiter à 221mph and I heard Thomas Bscher hit 368 km/h (228mph).

Yeah, thank you Deadlock :

DeaDLock (how quick in a straight line?) -
Your head gets jerked back and there's no doubt about it. What is more impressive is the breadth of the torque range, and the way that it pulls very sharply even in fifth (even in sixth, come to that).
By the way, thank you for the steer to that other website. I had a quick look at it this evening. I have never spoken to the F1 owner in the U.S. who is doing a lot of posting, but I am sure that he is a good guy. For what it's worth, his experiences with the car(s) seem to diverge from mine in many ways. I have to respect his opinions, as well as his willingness to share them with people. Where we diverge, I think that I am right, but that doesn't mean that he is wrong, just different.

You can say him that a topic was posted in 2003 on him and his car ;)

I was thinking Bernd Piechcantspellname because of his well-known crash in an F1.

i heard that bernd p. chrashed the mac somewhere near munich and "flemke" is talking about the autobahn part near frankfurt and i believe that bscher works/worked somewhere in this area.

he also mentioned that this driver had a lot of experience driving the F1...remember, bscher drove the f1 gtr from '95 to '98 and also has a dark blue F1 road car (iirc)...

Hello,

Thomas Bscher had a crash on the autobahn at 270 km/h. It was written in a topic which talked about crashs.

Well I for one, would much rather hear your stories relating to Camaro ownership - please share every last detail. The Camaro is a true automotive icon and one of the greatest cars ever made I'm sure.

So you don't want to know what it is like to own one? You shouldn't be in this forum if the answer to that is no.

...The day ended without event a few hours later. A week later, however, I got a letter from Thames Valley Police - 41 in a 30 on that Sunday. After checking the time and location, it proved to have occured when the officer was driving.
I phoned the fellow with the bad news. He took it like a man, commenting that it was "well worth it", and received his first-ever three points.
I believe that he requested the photo evidence....

Thats awesome

It has very little to do with the car itself, but this exchange from over there is almost priceless in my opinion. :lol2: :bigthumb:

The car is on the Continent. If you want more detail, consider in what European country other than Britain they know how to build cars.
I worked in the stock market.
For insurance, as you will know there are many elements that influence a particular rate. Twelve thou sterling is in the ballpark.

Wow, thank you very much. It really is refreshing to find someone who is as honest as you about their car being in France :naughty: and where they worked and what they payed. Now if you ever need someone to lick it clean you'll be sure to call me won't you ? :naughty:

Oh yes, France has all sorts of wonderful things to offer, such as, such as, such as...a lot of open space that is devoid of Frenchmen.
Actually the car has always gotten a friendly reception in France. It seems that although the French don't manufacture or drive decent cars, they do appreciate them.

Hilarious!!

Fascinating perspective on the F1's handling from an owner:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?p=9&f=23&t=116539&h=0

Read the third post - I found it quite interesting.

By the way, if you haven't visited PistonHeads since my initial accouncement that an F1 owner had surfaced there, do spend some time reading the thread I posted above along with this one:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=23&h=&t=116008

The owner is knowledgeable, eloquent and willing to answer questions in enough detail to satiate the likes of the folks here.
