Signal light Flasher

My friend just purchased a 84 200 SX and the signals are working intermittently, they wont work if the car has just been started but if the ignition has been on for a while the will work but the emergency flashers work fine all of the time.
Does any one know where the flashers are? forgot to add all fuses are good.
