Cold Air Intake

I just recieved my cold air intake from BBK. I got the adapter because I dont have mass air on my 88 gt. The directions they give, are if you have the mass air. My question is were do you mount the bracket (its a black bracket with one bigger side and a hole to mount it and the other side is just a little hooked up piece in the shape of an upside down L). Does the hooked up piece just cradle the tube or does it slip under the clamp and get clamped down? (This kit is not fenderwell mounted.)
Thx for help.

You dont need it. It bolts to the bottom of the mass air sensor as a brace, but you dont have one. It doesnt even help anyway, I dont use mine.

The black brace came with the adapter kit. I figured I'd use it to support the filter by mounting it to the side of the inside fender. I wouldn't have used anything but it looked like a little more support wouldn't hurt. The filter lays on the bracket. The mass air bracket i didnt use. This is what the other bracket looks like.http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/norm/bbk-1558_m.jpg

Hey I have an '86 Mustang LX Conv. and I just got it about 3 weeks ago. I dont know too much about cars, but the 3.8L engine guzzles gas like water. It has 120 hp and feels like it needs more "get up and go". Would it be a good idea to put a cold air intake on the engine or would it mess up the rest of the engine, and would need an overhaul to get it to work without kinks.

The cold air intake should'nt be a problem and its not too expensive. Gains which they say run between 10-12 hp. Maybe you should think about looking for a 5.0 302 motor if it's in your budget.
