Problems with my 325i =P

ok i got this 1989 bmw 325i.
i'm having problems with the OBC and i think the transmission is giving me some trouble.
the on-board comp isn't displaying anything, but the lights on the buttons are lit up.... so i think it's getting power (and i did check the fuse, it's a-ok)
the tranny (or so i think) is making a funny grinding noise when i push the gas a little hard and this occurs usually between 1st and 2nd and a little rougher between 2nd and 3rd.
oh and it idles a little rough but i think i just need to put some fuel cleaner and high octane gas through it.
