Thanks for the welcome. Yeah thats one of the pictures my friend sent me. The car is in Cali. right now and he lives down there and found it for me. Lots of this is in my other thread, but yeah $400 for the car, $845 for shipping, and im thinking about another $500ish for the new tranny and parts it needs. Oh, and the car still runs and everything but the transmission is fried and squeals like my mom. So im technically not ripping him off...not that bad at least. haha :)

where do you put your t-tops with the subs there, or did you just take em off for the pic?

and how hard was it to hook the subs up to ur battry, i heard it was a pain in the ass to get the power thru the firewall. (<-or w/e)

there's only one place to go through the firewall. its on the passenger side and you have to get pretty far up under the dash on the floor board to get to it. its not too bad, once you find it. i dont think there is another place, maybe someone has it run differently...

Thats a pretty good fit for your sub box 2001SS - one of the nicer fits I've seen. I don't know about you but when I need to take my tops with me I fold the back seat and lay them down with the handle side facing the back (so they sit down in the little groove there - kinda keeps them from sliding around). ALthough the one T-top that overlaps and rests a bit on the bottom one you should put something between them, I learned that the hard way when the bottom one got scratched taking a big turn.

The box does look nice. Im mine I have one 10in sub that fits in the little cubby hole in the back so I can still use my t-top holders... I will have to take a pic some time and show you guys.

Here's my system…

The subs are 12" Soundstream U.S.A., dual coil, 2 ohm speakers (gotta repaint those dusty grills)

Up front channels 1 & 2 are 5 ¼” Soundstream SPL mids & pivoting 1” metalic tweeters (crossovers in both doors), 2 ohm setups for each channel

Channels 3 & 4 in the back seats are 6 ½” Soundstream SPL coax speakers with same 1” metalic tweeters, 2 ohms each

Behind the driver’s rear quarter is a 10-disc Kenwood changer, and the amp is a bruising Soundstream Reference 705s – Measured at only 12 volts, these amps were underrated at 800 watts (when the car is running its getting between 13.6-14.4 volts). It’s a 5 channel, 100watt x 4 @ 2 ohm, 400watt x 1 @ 1 ohm. This was one of the cleanest amps you could get back in the day, high current – the sub channel (#5) was designed to be stable down to a ½ ohm load, and when properly cooled were proven to actually drive as low as a ¼ ohm load!

Behind the passenger’s rear quarter is the power cell & fuse relay. There’s also a fuse under the hood where the battery connection is. I’m running an overdrive alternator pulley and between the system and MSD ignition the interior lighting and headlights often flicker when the juice is cranked. 8-guage cable runs from the battery to the amp.

The setup is nearly 10 years old but it was ultra HiFi back in the day - so by todays standards I'd say its still better than most average mid range setups. Its definitely enough for me at this age.
