Ok, just put a used engine in my 89 $300 jeep. I primed the oil pump, went throgh and put in all new gaskets and a new head, and it got the thing running. runs pretty damn good. Oil pressure gauge is reading good but i noticed im not getting much (if any)oil through the push rods and into the head. im thinkin this is a problem. I checked it on my 99, and the rockers fill up and start splashing oil within seconds. so um..............................any ideas would be great.

also. how do you bleed, purge or what ever the cooling system... seems like it boiling over when gauge reads good

If the old engine missed a few oil changes, the pushrods are among the first things to get sludged up. Remove the pushrods and look down the hole in the middle. You should be able to see right through easily. If not, clean them out with a bit of carb cleaner and blow them out with compressed air, put them back and try again.
The pushrods should returned to the same place they came from and facing the same direction. Aviod mixing them up or reversing them.
Also make sure the spit holes on the rocker arms are clean. If this does not help, the lifters may be sludged up (replace them) or the oil feed to the lifters is inadequate (although this normally produces noisy, ticking lifters. )

As for the cooling system, search this forum for open vs closed cooling systems. Its a popular conversion for your year of Jeep to fix cooling system problems.
