max a/c problems

88 chevy 1500
this truck is equipped with an automatic recirculate (max a/c) mode that dosent seem to work right all the time. When it works the a/c blows cold air about 48 deg, when its not working only about 65 deg. It works occasionally. I,m wondering if there is a sensor somewhere that controls the max a/c. I replaced the blower, a/c, defrost, button cluster with one that worked in a diffrent truck.
